kindle fire- need advice!

So, my ILs blessed me with a Kindle Fire for my early Christmas present! I love it! I am a bit lost and technically challenged though. What are the secrets to downloading cheap books? Am I missing something? I admit that I haven't fooled with it too much yet but I am an avid reader and would love to have the inside scoop on the easiest and most cost efficient way to download books. Help!?!

I know you ladies know way more about this stuff that I do!

    I think that is what I did the other day but couldn't remember... I managed to download a book then. Have you ever done it through the computer? I know I should just sit down and play with it tonight but for some reason I am scared I will mess it up! Tongue Tied

    I have a nook and have yet to read a whole book on it.  I play plenty of games, surf the web and bump from it.

    From the computer? No...I dont think you can download them on the computer and then transfer them to your kindle [if that's what you mean] but I can be wrong.

    We just got one too. I haven't done any books yet but for apps we just long onto our amazon account on the computer. Pick what we want and put it in the cloud. Next time we can connect to wifi we download to the kindle. 

    Can you select books on your amazon account on your home computer, save them to your cloud and download when you have wifi access? 

    I've actually never done it, H has added everything but told me how. Maybe this would work for you?!?

    Goto amazon.com and you can search for books for free etc.. and music it all can download to the Kindle.  I love the videos - you can get for free with the Amazon Prime membership and there are kid friendly apps too. 

     I love mu kindle and it has saved me many times over.  I even watchTV on it with Optimum apps for free.

    Thanks everyone! I am going to try to sit down tonight if J and DH allow it and see what I can do... I'm actually going to try everything y'all mentioned and see what fits best for me! Thanks again!!!

    I have signed up for this daily newsletter. https://www.ereaderiq.com/ I've gotten a lot of great books for free! You can customize your settings to select the gendres you like.  I love the Kindle Fire and I just ordered the big one for my husband since he couldn't seem to put mine down. Enjoy.
