We have a Nissan Sentra & a Nissan Frontier Crew Cab... both of which have smallish backseats. We've used the Snugride 30 for our infant seat and have been fine with it in the center position, and I realize that just about any convertible seat will be smaller than that.
Our concern, though, is that there's a possibility we'll be going for 2u2 with these vehicles. (We may upgrade the Sentra by that time, but there's no guarantee.) Can anyone recommend a convertible carseat that's not only compact enough front-to-back to RF in an outboard position, but also possibly narrow enough to do so with the Snugride in the center position? (Putting the Snugride outboard would mean the passenger had their knees all jammed up in the dash.)
It's not a huge concern that the carseat be able to accommodate a lot of growth, because we can use the smaller convertible seat for kiddo #2 and just buy a bigger one for kiddo #1 when she needs it.... but I am trying to do all of this as cost-effectively as possible. (We'll need a seat for each car, because we both haul LO with relatively equal frequency... and while we have the cash to buy a nicer seat, that cash would be dipping into college savings!)
Any advice would be much appreciated
