Well there goes the bday budget, lol

I am a sucker for a custom cake!

I shlepped to the bakery with both kids in the snow to inquire about a Mickey Mouse cake & they said they could do one the same as the pic I brought with me. So, it's a done deal. I swore we wouldn't spend money on a custom cake again like last year. For whatever reason I thought it wouldn't be as much as it is - I don't know what I was thinking! At least the venue cost less this time Tongue Tied

Really no point to this post other than to say I have no will power whatsoever!

    FWIW I have no self-control when it comes to money and G, either.  I just want to buy him things ALL the time.  I don't...but I want to.

    I would probably have got the custom cake, too.

    Yes, I'd like to know too. :-) we totally went cheap and just had the grocery store put blue polka dots on one.. and it cost $14. haha

    I know custom cakes can be quite expensive...I bought one for DH for his grooms cake on our wedding day and it was $500, but that's because they were just getting popular now. Now, you can probably get one for $200 or less. Thanks to Wilton's cake decorating classes, I will be making Sam's hello kitty cake myself! :)

    The cake is $275 for two tiers & is for 40 people =(

    Jealous!  I would totally buy a custom cake if I had money for it. :) I am kind of dreading making a ton of cupcakes.  Be sure to post pictures! 
    I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.

    I am the same way with cakes. A girl I used to work with does custom cakes and she did A's last year and will this year. I love all out  birthday cakes, I wish I had the talent to do them myself but I don;t so I pay : )

    Wow! 500 for a birthday cake?!? I think I'll just stick to the one I make from a box or con my MIL into picking one up from Costco.

    Well, I didn't pay $500 - I have to draw the line somewhere ;)

    I actually wanted to make cupcakes but MH thought I would end up not having time to do them & then I'd be going crazy at the last minute (he knows me too well!)

    I am exactly the same. I am the biggest cheapo when it comes to myself, but I'm the opposite when it comes to DS.

    us too!! MH is the worst when it comes to DD :)
