using Graco Snugride carseat without base?

Anyone done this?  How hard is it?  Can you do this safely with any kind of seatbelt?  I'm taking LO on a trip this weekend and thinking of leaving the base at home.  The base is obviously easier in the car, but would be a pain in the airport.

  • I did it once when a friend picked LO and I up. Her baby was on the passenger side so I put Paula on the driver's side and it was super easy. As far as I know I did it right; followed the directions to a T, made sure it was level and nice and tight. Very simple [I had been worried!] and it was really fast too.

  • I do this often. It is really easy and you can get the seat in nice and tight with little work.

  • I did that once when my car was in the shop and I had to borrow my mom's (which doesn't have the latch system). It was easy...stick the seat on the passenger side back seat, thread the seatbelt through the slots, pull the seatbelt out as far as it will go until it clicks and then pull it tight so the seat is snug.
