A mutual friend had told me my SIL is planning a homebirth for her twins. So far there are no issues at near 23 weeks.
I told mutual friend, that it would be cool if she had them at home as long as she & the babies are safe (she's had 7 homebirths including one breech). I said it in a tone that you can't mistake for anything but delight for SIL, knowing mutual friend may talk to her.
Apparently mutual friend heard me say "She's crazy!" so SIL gets that message from mutual friend and calls me today to say I'm a freaking idiot and that just because I chose two hospital births doesn't make me an expert on childbirth and the risks of homebirths, and that my kids will be stupid because I got an epidural twice. Say what???
I reminded her I did not plan a hospital birth with E, I had pre-e and instead of homebirth was induced. I chose an epidural for both hospital births so I could focus on pushing my baby out, not because I was a wuss! I did have a succesful homebirth with DD and I wanted one with E but it just didn't happen that way.
Anyways, needless to say she blasted me, barely let me get a word in, and hung up on me. What a big baby.
Ugh... needed to vent. I will no longer be discussing any inlaw stuff with mutual friend.
Re: My SIL called me to lay into me....(vent)
7/30/12 - B/G twins born at 33w4d due to PPROM
I know, I was blown away. And the comment on the epidural thing, oh I got mad.
And I stand corrected, it's 6 homebirths and an emergency c-section (in 2005) for the fact she was filling up with too much amniotic fluid, in which she had to get an epidural regardless.
As for mutual friend, she's more a mutual acquaintance now
Yes I'm in agreement with that. One thing for a healthy mother & baby in a single birth at home, but twins? On top of that for someone who has had a c-section in the past, irresponsible.
I would not ever want to risk the lives of my children for a homebirth with twins.
All of this.

I haven't talked to mutual friend, and probably won't talk to her about my ILs anymore.
