I have heard that the convertible seats are a lot more comfy for LO's. Is this true? When we visit my parents it is at least a 5 hour car ride, and DS is miserable by the time we get there. Our infant seat goes to 35 lbs, but if he would be more comfortable in a convertible I may get one sooner than later.
Re: Another convertible carseat ?
I do daycare and I have to provide transportation to and from school. I got a convertible carseat to put in the van that I use for transportation so that I am not carrying a carseat to and from a vehicle four times a day, LO doesn't seem to prefer it one way or the other. She doesn't like to be in a carseat if it isn't moving though, so she usually starts crying to be let out five minutes after we get to the school. Sorry I guess I'm not much help!
I don't think it's safe for them to be any more padded than an infant seat, so they're probably the same comfort-wise. Some kids like them better because they are higher up and they can see out the window. We switched DD1 at 7 months because we were going on a 10 hour road trip and wanted her to have a little more arm room. She was so squished in the infant seat. With DD2, I'm in no rush because she's much smaller than her sister was.
