2nd RE appt...phew...

Hi Ladies,

I finally got to go in for my follow up with the RE. We discussed all of our test results. He reconfirmed my PCOS but he called it lean PCOS because I hit 2 of the necessary criteria but I am not overweight and my insulin and glucose were great. A big fear for me was that DH is a carrier for Tay Sachs but fortunately I am not, both parent need to be carriers to risk a child being effected.

All of my hormones came bag pretty normal but apparently I am not ovulating. So, we really just need to get my ovaries to spit out an egg. I have no problems with egg quality but my ovaries are holding tight to those eggs.

They did base line blood testing today and I am due to start provera again as I am on CD42, then I'll start my first round of clomid. I am feeling cautiously optimistic.

Thanks so much to all of you for your amazing wealth of information. I felt armed with so much more knowledge at this appointment than at my first.

Good luck on your cycle - your diagnosis is much like mine and hopefully the clomid will get those ovaries to release an egg or two!

As far as IF goes I think that's a good dx. Hopefully all you'll need is a kick start to ovulate and you'll be good to go! It's good to hear you're not a tay sachs carrier. I bet that's a load off your mind. GL!

Did he test your testosterone or DHEA-S levels? I ask because I too have "classic polycystic ovaries" but mine are caused by adrenal hyperplasia. The treatment for adrenal hyperplasia is a low dose corticosteriod, which isn't usually done with PCOS. So I'd make sure that he rules that out for you since you don't have insulin resistance.

He did test my testosterone and said it was in the mid range of normal. I honestly don't remember about the DHEA-S levels. I'm speaking to the nurse tomorrow when my baseline results are in I'll ask her. Thanks.
