Anyone have boots appropriate for snow or a snow overalls/jacket that they would highly recommend for their LO?
I saw baby gap has some snow overalls (pricey) and Gymboree has a nice outer jacket (reasonable), but I wanted to see what other people had purchased or were going to purchase.
Re: Snow Clothes Recommendations?
I have a gap snowsuit that was gifted to us. I have a winter jacket with snow pants. I have not used either yet. I have 2 polar fleece bunting from Columbia that I use daily.
For playing in the snow if I had a choice I would go with a snowsuit and one that flips over the hands so you do not need to have mittens(or in case you lose one). Oliver had the best snowsuit ever it was by a brand named Chuck Roast, I can only find them on Ebay, if you ever see one grab it. For boots we just went to Once Upon a Child because she is rarely going to wear them this year, I did buy her new rain boots for when it is warmer in the spring and maybe if we have a warmer winter day.
I forgot to add this. Maybe not for this year (though I did it) buy a snowsuit with the "grow with me" option. You buy them too big but the suits adjust. So they can wear them too big. As they grow the suit fits, when the suit gets too small you can snip some threads inside and the suit has two more inches in length added. This is fantastic and why I was so bummed when I thought DD's snowsuit was gone. My MIL bought this snowsuit when DD was 18 months old. It's a size 4. She wore it when she was 18 months old, she wore it that winter, the next winter and this winter so far. She should get another winter out of it. It's a more expensive snowsuit (about $200) but considering most snow suits are in the $80 range it's worth the investment if you can get a few winters out of it.
DS's snow suit in the pictures below was about $120 and is a size 3T the straps inside have all been adjusted so it's the right length. He's got lots of room to grow into it and I am hoping to get a couple of winters out of it.
I found Layla a one piece columbia snowsuit 18months on a mama swap page for $15. Its wicked cute
It has the hand flaps and actually has foot flaps too, which is good because she currently refuses to keep her boots on
She wears a moderate winter coat right now it's not too puffy for her carseat, but it's fleece lined to keep her warm. I'm going to get her a fleece jacket for when it gets colder to wear in and out of the car, but if we'll be outside for longer she'll wear the snowsuit.
