Up she went

DD showed us a new trick this weekend.  The cat thought she had escaped the baby by going up the stairs. Nope she climbed up the steps after her.  I can't believe it.  It was exciting and scary at the same time.

Now I have to figure out how to block her from them.  The way their are  designed you just can't put up a baby gate plus the floor plan is kind of open

Re: Up she went

  • That luckily is one thing we don't have to worry about... till he starts using the apartment steps.

  • Smart baby! Good luck finding a way to block them off.
  • Ugh we have the same problem with blocking stairs off.  Our only real option is to close off access to the stairway totally... not putting the gate on the stairs but across a wide entry way before dd's access to the stairs.  We have to find a baby gate that spans 64".  So far I have only found 2 and they are both super fugly.  Our house is a very open floor plan.  We totally didn't think about baby safety when purchasing (although this house is much more suitable to kids than our Townhouse was - a 3 story open staircase with cable railings would definitely not fly with kiddos).  DH's next big project after the baby gate will be to install cabinet locks because there is really no way to isolate the kitchen.
