TTC After a Loss

Vitamins

So I have a handful of pills that I take everyday, just wondering how you take yours. Do you do them all at once, do you split them up and take some at different times in the day?

In the AM I take: prenatal, b complex, folic acid

In the PM I take:  dha, calcium, folic acid

Although my MTHFR is the "least worrysome" of the combos, RE still wants me to take an additional 1mg of folic acid with my prenatal and the b complex for the bvits. So my prenatal has 800mcg folic acid and then each additonal folic acid i take is 400mcg, although it's not quite 1mg additonal, I figure it's probably pretty close as most prenatals I've looked at only have 400-600mcg folic acid anyways.

Re: Vitamins

  • I don't quite take a handful, just thyroid and prenatals. Since those two can interfere with each other I take my thyroid meds about an hour before I actually get out of bed (has to be on an empty stomach and can't eat for an hour following) then I take my prenatal with lunch or dinner

  • I take:

AM: Calcium and B-Complex (making sure that I don't drink my green tea until early pm)

PM: Prenatal, additional 400 mg of folic acid, DHA, B6, B12 and Vit D. I split my B-complex and B6 because I was told that's better for absorption, but I take it with my PNV so make sure that I am getting it with other B vitamins (also better for absorption).

For calcium, and you may already know this, so my apologies if you do, but some are supposed to be taken with food and some can be taken on an empty stomach. I can't remember which is which, but it's important for absorption purposes.

    ETA: Vitamin D too.

  • I take quite a few vitamins... I'm actually trying to pare them down. I think I'm at 12 right now. I take them all at once with lunch. Whenever over tried twice a day I always forget the pm dosage.

  • I have one of those pill containers that have the days of the week on them and I fill it every Sunday. I take a iron pill because I had to have a blood transfusion when I lost Noah, my prenatal, a DHA pill and a stool softener because the iron can make it hard to go to the bathroom. I take the vitamins in the am and the stool softener before bed.

  • Hi!  I also have MTHFR!  I take all my pills at night before bed (reccommended to do this by my doc) I take a prenatal vitamin, 2 folic acid pills (1,600 mg), a Folbee Plus (Complex B), baby aspirin, and a heart burn pill (prilosec) because the B vitamin gives me horrible heart burn and an upset stomach but my doc said as long as I eat a good dinner, it will not affect my stomach while sleeping.  I have been taking all these pills for about 9 weeks now and everything is going well.  Good Luck!  How long have you known that you have MTHFR?  Do you also take a baby aspirin??
