My dcp can take up to 6 kids. She usually has 4 or 5 on most days including DS. Yesterday when I picked DS up I noticed there was another boy infant there. It is fine of course since she can have up to 6 but do you feel providers should let other parents know another child is starting? I know I dont have a choice, I was just wondering about etiquette or if this is common?]
Re: More kids at daycare
When I interviewed our DCP she mentioned she had two more babies coming a few months after DS but she didn't give me (or anyone else I know of) a heads up that the babies were actually going to be starting. I showed up one day and there was a new little boy and then a few weeks later another little girl. She was well within the proper ratios so I didn't think much about it.
My DCP has 8 full-time kids every day, and up to 8 more part-time/drop-ins. She will sometimes mention that she has a full house, but never ahead of time. As long as she is at or below her maximum, I don't see why she should notify her clients. Often dropoffs/pickups are hectic and she may have forgotten to mention it.
Now if she was hiring a new assistant, THAT I would want to be notified.
