What is your birth plan?

Just curious what everyone is hoping to do for the big day when their LO's arrive.

Re: What is your birth plan?

  • Have a baby

    -in a hospital

    -through my vagina

    -with an epidural

    (listed in order of importance)

I don't have a "plan". I have things I would like to happen, but as long as baby and I are both healthy in the end, that's all that really matters.

    Yes

I'm looking at the very real possibility of another c/s, so this is precisely my priority list. I get to try a VBAC as long as I don't get HELLP again, but honestly, whether or not I'll get an epi is one of the least of my worries. Natural would be great for the feeling of satisfaction, but if I need one, I'll get it.

BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

  • My birth plan is to deliver a healthy 6 pound baby at 39 weeks after 1 hour in labor and 2 pushes.  No tearing and who-ha will immediately return to normal.  Baby weight will fall off within 1 week revealing an amazing 6 pack that I got simply by carrying her around for 9 months.  Baby will immediately breastfeed in a way that is pain-free for everyone, and will pump my boobs up permanently (no sagging), she will sleep great, never be fussy and her poo will smell like roses.

I think this plan is completely reasonable.

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

  • So my first just 16 months ago was breech and a c-section was necessary.  This time around I can't help but think that he'll be breech too :(  I have the ok to try for a vaginal delivery, but I need to go into labor on my own, which I did do for #1 so that's good.  From there, I am going to try for a natural birth, but I am not opposed to meds.  I also am trying not to be upset if another section is in my future.  I plan on scheduling it just in case this LO decides to be breech like my first.  That way at least I get a day and doctor that I want.

  • Mine is I'll be induced due to my medication at 39wks unless Dr changes her mind or baby boy comes on his own. So it's kind of medicated but if I could safely have it my way it would be a hospital birth with no medication. All that really matters to me in the end is a healthy happy baby and a healthy me.

     Yes

All of this.  As of right now, I'm going for a VBAC.  If that's not possible, it'll be a c/s.  Whatever is safest for me and the babe!

pretty much this. mostly i'm just hoping to leave the hospital with a baby, and not have someone shout, "No, she's totally incompetent, who gave her a baby?!?"

the last few days, though, baby seems determined to recreate a scene from Alien--sorry, baby, you can't pummel your way out through my stomach!

  • I don't really have a plan, just thoughts that are important to me. My OB suggested that we have an idea of what we would Ike, but set nothing in stone as things tend to change. Preferrably, I would love a vaginally delivered baby with an epidural. No episiotomies (I thank you!), avoid c-sections unless absolutely required and can we please wait for the cord to stop pulsing before DH cuts it. I also hope to avoid an induction... And the only way I would do this med free is if my body progresses too fast for it.

    I want this plan too!

  • I want to vote "other" as well or "none of the above"

I'm not having an epidural (medically unable to have a epidural) but I'm not going completely natural (I have to have pitocin and will be in a very medicated hospital environment for my high risk delivery)  so I wouldn't exactly call it natural, but I wouldn't say I fall into the other categories.

As for a written Birth Plan. Here's what mine says:

    Birth Plan Objections:

    1. Mama Alive

    2. Baby Alive

Anything else is just going to be go with the flow!

  • I have also decided to go with the flow. We are having our childbirth class this weekend, so I am going to ask them some questions about pain relief options and other things. I plan to go into labor and see how things go as far as taking anything goes.

The one thing I do know is that I would like all visitors to be kept out for at least 1 to 2 hours after birth so we can bond with the baby, do the skin-to-skin contact thing, and just recover from the experience.

This. And JAB's plan. But I'm preparing for a natural birth. And unless something goes wrong I'd like to stay unmedicated. I trust my body. But at the end of the day we have to be healthy and alive.

This for me as well. My biggest fear this time around is not getting to the hospital in time.
