Preemies

I'll be joining you all soon, stories needed!

Hello, this is my second pregnancy (through IVF) and its been one hell of a ride!  I have been on HBR since 24 weeks I am now 32w2d.  I am a complete previa and just had my 7th bleed this am.  It was pretty bad and I am still bleednig a little.  I recieved steroids at 24 weeks and another dose this morning.  My next bleed they are going to do the c section no questions asked.

I am terrified for my LO.  Anyone with 32 weekers, how long was their nicu stay?  What challenges did you face during that time for you and your little one?

  • My Lo was born at 32wks 1day. Our nicu stay was 8 wks, and our biggest issues were bradys/desats and rapid breathing and a hole in her heart. Bradys are lowered heart rate, desats are low oxygen saturation we got the all clear to go home 3 times pending a car seat test and all 3 times she had a Brady within the first 10 mins. Other then scaring me to death with those episodes her stay was really smooth, her iv was out on day 3, she was off oxygen and just on a medicated flow for congestion around 2 wks old, completely off the nose canula by 3 wks, taking bottles by a month and completely off her ng tube later the same week she started bottles. She did have quite a few chest xrays and test run to figure out why she breaths fast and sucks her sides in under her ribs when she breaths, but they found no medical cause for that and basically said she's just a fast breather. She still sees a cardiologist every 6 month for her heart, but its congenital and not related to her being preemie, so far isn't causing issues. Hopefully you have a short and uneventful stay.

  • Praying that your able to keep LO in as long as possible. My DD#1 was born at 33w 4d due to pre-e and spent 13 days in the NICU, she was mainly a feeder grower. My second DD was born at 34w 5d and spent 14 days in the NICU for bradys/apena, feeding, jaundice. It took about a week to figure out the feeding and get the jaundice under control, another few days to get the brady's under control. Each baby is different. Please keep us posted.

  • DD #2 was born at just barely 32 weeks. She stayed in the NICU for a month. I didn't have any shots because my high-risk OB read that they didn't help. She was never on oxygen and was basically a feeder for she time in the hospital. She came home on a monitor for the first 6 months, but it only went off once. She is now a totally normal, straight A six year old.
