Anemic?

I got the results of L's bloodwork back (Mommy fail, I was supposed to go after her 1 yr. appt 2 or 3 weeks ago, but forgot until yesterday)

Anywho, they called today and said that she is slightly anemic. I'm not very educated on this, but she said something about the hemoglobin being low? Say if the low-end is 32.. she was 31 or 30.5.. something like that.

Have any of you ladies dealt with a LO who is/was anemic? They told me to buy Ferinsol (?) OTC and give it to her twice a day.. I plan on getting it today.

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated :-)

  • CK's iron came back borderline low - our ped gave us a list of iron-rich foods to try to incorporate into her diet, and we started Poly-Vi-Sol with iron everyday.  Our ped didn't seem too concerned, though!

  • C was diagnosed slightly anemic at 6 mo.  He had to take the Poly Vi Sol vitamins with iron.  He did get off of them, eventually.  I try to feed him iron rich foods along with vitamin C to aid in the iron absorbtion
