Toddler with constant blinking? Tic?

So all of a sudden, DS1 has started excessive blinking. He just started it yesterday. DH is at the pedi office with him now for an ear infection and asked about it. She said it was a tic and we should just ignore it. We were also at my aunts house Saturday evening for turkey day and she has 4 cats. He was rubbing his eyes alot and they were watery and itchy that night and we gave him some Claritin. Then Sunday is when the blinking started. Could be a coincidence, who knows. Anyone else's LO start an excessive blinking or some form of tic? Supposedly it is common and will go away. When did yours go away? Any insight?

My son has this. At first I just thougt he was really tired. But we noticed it throughout the day as well. He did it more when he was tired. Our Pedi gave us a handout..it is a very common tic and can be triggered by many factors and generally goes away on its own. So not to worry:)
A year later at 3yrs old and he still does it some days but for the most part it has go away. (for some reason he has been doing it more again this week)
I would be concerned that it could be an absence seizure. If it were me I would take my child to a neurologist. Does your child stop all activity and stare off when he does it? Does he talk to u and answer u?
No he doesnt stop when he does the blinking, just goes about his merry way! And he can still talk and answer questions appropriately.
