Re: ~ **Monday Pity Party/B!tchfest** ~

  • Tuesday, I found out my grandma is near death.

Wednesday, we dropped all plans in order to go out and see her for possibly the last time. On the highway on our way to go see her, the cat climbed out from under my mom's car tumbling to the ground right in front of my brother's truck who promptly ran over the cat in clear view of my 5 and 8 year old niece and nephew.

Wednesday night, Micah threw up everywhere. All night long.

Thursday, we visited the IL's for Thanksgiving. Micah pooped all over his outfit minutes before dinner was ready, then proceeded to start throwing up again.

We decided to do black Friday shopping at midnight, so we went out late, came home at 4:30, and Micah was up at 7 for the day.We both took a nap at 9. I woke up throwing up. I spent the rest of the day writhing in pain while my family took care of Micah. Every 3 hours, I would trek downstairs from the 3rd floor, clean my pump parts, pump him a bottle, and hand it to someone to give him. Then I would run back to the bathroom and go back to bed for 3 more hours.

That night, DH started throwing up. My brother, SIL, niece and nephew headed back home for their 5 hour trip Saturday afternoon while my mother and sister went to take a shift with my grandma. On their way home, my niece started throwing up. Shortly after, my SIL started throwing up.

    Sunday, my sister got sick.

At 2am this morning, the last part of the flu finally hit me, and now I can't stay out of the bathroom. I have to drive an hour to work, lead a 3 hour professional development and drive back the hour. I'm not sure how this is going to work out.

    Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  • Ok, you win the pity party!  Being sick sucks, and then you tack on all that other stuff!  The flu went through the boys' DC a few weeks ago, and I was so glad we all had already had the flu shot, and none of us got sick!

My pity party b!tchfest was just that I am sooo glad my IL's are gone!  SIL and her BF stayed with us since Wed, and they have no concept of keeping things away for childproofing.  DS1 was being all crazylike yesterday, and spilled coffee all over the coffee table (normal people would have picked that up, so I didn't even think to tell him to calm down).  I had to move her BF's insulin and syringes off the floor so that DS1 could not get to them (that would have been fun).  I also had to stop them from putting a glass of ice water straight on the wood piano, when there were plenty of other places to put it that would not wreck it!  They are lazy and I hate having them around, as they nap all the time (so in the living room or family room) and don't pickup after themselves.  They even sat and watched me bring in three loads of groceries from my car without even asking if I needed help.  FIL is also officially not allowed to babysit ever on his own.  He has no regard for safety, and chided my MIL for tellling DS1 not to stand on a chair, because she would give him a fear of heights.  Um, no, he's not allowed to stand on chairs because we have tile floors and he's clumsy, and I like his brain to stay inside his head.  He also kept giving him soda, which we never do.

I am now humbled due to Steel's post and am thankful no one was sick!!!

  • Steel- That sounds awful. I'm so sorry. The part about the kitty made me especially sadnCrying

Torani- I'm annoyed at your family for you.  I hate having visitors in general, and yours sound extra rude! I'm glad they're gone.

Mine is just that I'm sad to be back to work.  I like being a teacher, but having all that time off with LO reminded me how much I wish I could be home with him.

  • Steel Oh my goodness, how awful! Definitely pity party worthy if not more so.

Mine is lame. I was so excited that I accomplished pumping a day's worth of milk in two sessions, but then after I transferred from pump to storage bag the bag fell over. I only lost an ounce or so but still. It got all over the table, the phone, a book, and a stack of paper towels. Thankfully, the lactation room in the hospital where I work has sanitizing wipes at the ready and nothing "soaked through".

Oh, and I guess I could add that I feel like a colossal ahole for hurting my mom's feelings. She smokes in her house and everything is essentially destroyed from her three grown dogs plus seven puppies. She wants me to bring E over and I said no, so we "got into it" which is my mom throwing a guilt trip about waiting around to die alone because no one cares about her and me saying that that is the choice she is making. She'd rather smoke and shorten her life than see her granddaughter. I've tried telling her she's welcome to come over or meet us somewhere but she is stubborn and likes to hold a grudge. I should also mention for those who don't know, my mom had a stroke at the age of 46 exacerbated by heavy alcohol and tobacco use. Her doctors strongly advise against her continuing the use of these so it's more complicated than just my not wanting E exposed.

  • My day started with my @$$hole boss yelling at me because regional management (above him) has decided to reduce my staffing. Um, you think I like that? Not my idea, smart one. Then he has regional management conference call me to tell me why they're reducing my staff and they tell me to be more efficient. I straight up told them they already took 5/13 employees over the summer and I've managed to keep things running. Now they're taking 2 more. I've gotten as lean as I can get and there's a point where efficiency just won't cut it anymore. They told me make it work. Yeah right, let me just get out my magic wand I keep in my back pocket. Then same @$$hole boss yells at me for prioritizing my employee's safety over faster turnaround time for patient results in a lab spill we had last week. Not apologizing for that one either. The one good thing was I had an excellent phone interview today and they've already followed up with 2 emails. Too bad the job is over 2,000 miles away and DH is really fighting a relocation "just so I can have job satisfaction."

ETA: Oh yeah, and Steelcity wins hands down for worst week. That just sounds awful!
