psychotically indecisive

That's what I like to call M these days.

He is driving me BATTY! He'll beg for something, scream and cry for it even, then I'll give it to him and he'll throw it or push it away. When I go to take it away, he'll scream and cry for it back. We did this tonight with a banana, a cup of water, his stuffed moose, and he's currently in his crib screaming to be rocked (when I went in, he said, "no! no rock! bed!" When I walked out, I hear, "mama, rock me!") AGHHHH! What does he WANT?!

Anyone else have a psychotically indecisive almost two-year old?

  • Yes.  We just figured out that Nate's "Uh-uh" and shaking his head no actually means yes.  He pretty much wants the opposite of whatever we seem to want for him at the time.  I've taken to just leaving the room sometimes...

  • OMG YES! This is my biggest frustration with him. All.day.long we do this. He wants it, but once he gets it, he no longer wants it. We will sing songs before bedtime to quiet him down and he will constantly ask for a song, and then when you sing it, NO! NOT that song! This one.

I hope it goes away soon... :-)

Whenever possible, this is my strategy.

Toddler phases, they're so much fun.

Yes  R gets so worked up into a full on tantrum sometimes that I worry he's going to hurt himself thrashing about!  I keep asking him to tell me what he wants, use his words, etc. to no avail.  Sometimes its not even the indecisive part, just the PSYCHOTIC!  LOL

  • We are so there and I'm stealing your term. We did this today over fruit snacks that he asked for the whoooole way home from DC only to have him loose his sht when he got them. This was followed by a chillout in his room and when he came out and saw that I had moved the bag flipped out again. Turns out he was mad I didn't let him open them so we tried a new one which of course he couldn't open himself so he flipped again. I live toddlers, I really do.
