We've tried Proex, Kiddie Kandids, Sears, JC Penney and did not really like any of them. Last year we tried Flash Digital Photography at Ridgedale and really liked how they turned out but if we didn't have 40% off I never would've paid that much and haven't seen a sale like that at Digital since (I've been stalking their website). I am willing to pay $150, $100 would be better.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Am I being too cheap? Maybe I need to pay more to get some great photos? Maybe I need to be done with the franchises? Are there any reasonably priced indepedent photographer's out there?
Re: looking for a photographer in Mpls area
We use Gruman Photography. www.grumanphotography.com
She is definitely not that cheap, but she's amazing and worth every penny.
We also use Gruman Photography and love her work--her "mini sessions" are $225, longer portrait sessions more.
A friend of mine uses Created By Me Photography, which is by far the least expensive individual professional photographer I've seen. I think they do really nice work, particularly for the value: https://www.createdbymephotography.net/#/Investment/
Good luck!
Hey! You were in the afternoon mini-sessions too! We're the second family on the blog. Your family is so beautiful and both DH and I commented on how freaking adorable your little guy is.
Thank you! The one of your older son kissing your younger is ADORABLE. We love working with Sally:)
We use Coopet Photography - she's super reasonable and she does great stuff! Plus she's cute and funny!
Let me know if you decide to use her too - we'd both get referral benefits!

I use www.tarookephotography.com
Her work speaks for itself. She does an amazing job and is great with kids. Honestly, I think it's worth it to pay more. If I couldn't afford a session with a great photographer I'd rather just take simple pictures myself. I think the photo studios do not do a very good job at all.
You could try Belkis-Cruz Photography. She is a newer independent photographer who is super sweet and easy to work with. Last I knew she charged around $200 for a one hour shoot and that came with a DVD of about 100-150 images and she will touch up around 20-25. Here's a link to her website if you want to check her out. She mostly displays wedding photos on her website but I know she does babies too. https://www.belkis-cruz.com
My husband is an independent, professional photographer. He will travel to your chosen location or home (which might help put your kids at ease). His rates are very reasonable in my opinion. You can look at his work and package prices at www.kilgrenphotography.com
Packages start at $45 and there is no sitting fee. He recently won an award at a photography showcase with his children portrait work.
You can also like Kilgren Photography on Facebook and receive additional incentives!
