Infertility

DEmbryo ladies question:

Hi Ladies!

So, DH and I are on two waiting lists for donor embryos with two practices we've worked with over the years, located in the Philadelphia area. Unfortunately, we are pretty far down the lists, somewhere around 46 and 75.

I'm curious if you have put your names on any lists at practices not in your area. We are willing to travel if necessary to make this happen. If you don't mind my asking, what practices have you researched and found to be "out of state friendly?" I've found one in NYC who I will contact tomorrow, and another in upstate NY who I contacted today.

You can PM me if you don't wish to post here. Thanks!

Have you joined the group for check-ins. I haven't checked in the past couple of times because I don't have much to update. But I've learned a lot from them. Good luck in your decisions!

  • This might be radical, but I am one of the czech republic cyclers. They cycle only OOTers, so that's not an issue. We are doing DE IVF, but if we did DEmbies, we would have done it at Reprofit in Brno. Its an easy trip and you only have to go once. The prices are great, and you can make a nice holiday of it. I would go to vienna or prague for a week. Its a jump away. Its just something to think about. There is no wait list.

Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Here is their DEmbryo offer and price plan:

? Transfer of two (2) donated grade one vitrified (frozen) blastocysts. There is no waiting time for this option. They offer a shared risk plan with this option. The way their shared risk plan works is as follows: In case a pregnancy is not achieved after the first transfer of two high quality frozen blastocysts you can have another attempt for half of the price. You will pay the second half of your second attempt only if you get pregnant.Prices:
1st Frozen Embryo Transfer Attempt (2 embryos) ? $2100 USD
2nd Frozen Embryo Transfer Attempt (2 embryos) - $1050 USD (you will just pay the second half if you get a positive pregnancy test)

These prices don?t include the medication for the recipient and that usually runs between $200 - $300 USD.

Thanks for this info, I didn't realize that you could do this.  If my current cycle doesn't work, I might look into this.  Gl to you Glueck!

For Jen, I only worked with my clinic (in NYC) and they never gave me info on where I was on a wait list, but it did take about 4 1/2 months for us to be matched and we were a secondary recipient even then.  GL to you!

  • Suzanne, what clinic are you working with? We're 3 months in to our waiting list, but were told it might take a year or longer. My gut says, longer.

  • I'm so glad you brought this up. My H and I are considering DEmbryo. I am already dreading the wait if this is the path we choose... Feels like we have been waiting forever to start our family.

glueck, do you know if there are Caucasian donors at this clinic? Very interesting option, I was on their website last night.

hootie, I thought the embryos at California Concep.tions were created using donors, but found nothing on their website that said this. It said they were donated by couples who had underwent IVF. I'm curious what the wait time would be.

Thanks in advance, ladies. Good luck to all

Their website is a little bit confusing, but they are embryos created from donated eggs and donated sperm, not from other couples.  I know there is some controversy on other discussion boards about them advertising themselves as an embryo adoption/donation program since those terms are usually used in reference to embryos donated by other couples.  But these are ones created in the lab using donated egg and sperm, and then they make 'profiles' of the donors for the intended parents to review.

One of our ladies on the DE/DEmbryo/GC Check-in is cycling at California Conceptions.  If I remember correctly, she said the wait time was approximately 6 months.

I wish you all the best!

glueck, do you know if there are Caucasian donors at this clinic?

They are basically all caucasian.  There are darker hair/eyes donors in Czech as well, but they also have more options for fairer donors Blonde/brown hair and light eyes than Spain, which is the other European option for DEmbryos. Czech is also less expensive. Hope this helps, and message me any time with questions. Page me on IFV board if you need me. I only pop by this board occasionally. XO
