TTC After a Loss

POAS, of course, but what to pee in?

On CD5 and looking forward to starting my newly-arrived pack of wondfo opks, but since wondfos can't be used in-stream, I have to figure out what to pee in.

I'm torn between feeling environmentally-evil if I go use/throw out a plastic cup each day, and yet kinda grossed out by the idea of using (and more washing) a re-usable receptacle. Thoughts, anyone? Wondfo-pushers, what do you use?

Related question: I really can't figure out how to make peeing in a cup at work not a disaster, so I'm probably just going to test when I get home, but for those who do test mid-day, how do you manage it?

  • I use a small plastic cup that originally came with cough syrup.  I wash it out and it doesn't gross me out!

I test when I get from home work at 4:00.  If it starts to get darker ill test before bed too, about 9:30 or 10:00.

     Good luck!

  • I have a plastic cup at work that I rinse and re-use. At home I usually use a regular cup that I rinse and run through the dishwasher at the end.

I keep the cup at work in the bathroom (I am a SPED teacher and share my room with another teacher and 2 assistants, but they all know we are TTCAL, even though they really don't know when I am peeing in the cup, they are aware I use the OPKs).

Last year I used the OPKs without anyone knowing, I just had to be a little more stealth when going to the bathroom.

This is what I use too. And I don't want to try during the day at work, so I test as soon as I get home from work.

My workplace has one bathroom for a floor where more than 30 women work...plus a few hundred students wandering through to find study-areas daily. :-( I don't think my stealth skills are up to it.

Yeah, I admit I'm also kinda concerned about how gross DH will think it is, as he already finds the pressure of ttc to be a bit of a turn-off. Maybe I can hide it under the bathroom cabinet if I very clearly label it as "Do not drink out of!"

I also use a medicine dosing cup. Several actually. One stays at home, on is in my car with opk's in a ziploc bag, abd one travels with me in a ziploc bag also with some opks. I just rinse it after I use it. I like to test about noon and 8pm, adding a test at 4pm the closer O time gets.

This may be a stupid question, but I take it this means that the amount of pee required is really only a couple of tablespoons? (picturing robitussin cups in my head)

Wondfo has a line that shows you not to go over the line.  It's really not much pee required at all!  It's best if you can use pee that's been held for several hours so its not diluted.

  • I use a mini Gladware cup. Don't judge. It's exclusively for PIAC purposes and stays in the bathroom!

  • Oh, and regarding the mid-day OPK testing, I keep a few OPKs stashed in my makeup case, and take it with me (or sneak one into a pocket), and swing by the kitchen for a disposable cup (we have free coffee at work) on my way to the bathroom. It's a pretty high level of stealthness.

  • Thanks for all the ideas for pee receptacles (and the stealthiness suggestions)! I think I may look for some of those medicine cups (which seem easily hidden) and start just testing at home at first. I'll let you know how it goes.

I always tested after work and had no problem getting a + OPK.
