I went in for a normal appointment last week. I was 13 weeks. After not finding the heartbeat they did an ultrasound. Confirmed my worst fear that there was no hearbeat. They said the baby was measuring around 10 weeks. I only have light spotting with no other symptoms. I go back on wednesday to discuss my options and I think a d&c is the best for me. What is the recovery time like after this procedure and is it painful?
Re: scared
I'm sorry for your loss. Sending big hugs, thoughts and prayers your way. I just commented on my d&c experience last week on a previous post asking about recovery. Hope this helps.
A d and c is a relatively simple outpatient surgery with a quick recovery period. In addition, they can test the baby to see of it had chromosomal abnormalities which might provide you with some answers as to why this has happened, and may give you some closure.
You can also opt for a medicine that will help expedite the miscarriage, but that can be fairly taxing on the body. It's really a very personal decision.

I was scared of a D and C and I opted for a natural miscarriage. If I could go back, I would change that. It was very painful, long, and it was incredibly scary. That said, it is a personal decision. I hope whatever you do you have peace about it someday. I'm sorry you have to be here.

So sorry for your loss. Your not alone, a lot of us have joined in the last while with very similar stories. Don't stress too much about the d&c, it really is the "easy" part of all this.
