Our pediatrician told us to put 2oz of Pedialyte in DS' bottle with 2oz of breastmilk. We did because well, the doctor told us to.
We went to the GI today and he said not to do that. "The AAP recommends only breastmilk, especially when baby is sick," according to him.
Apparently, according to this GI and KellyMom, giving Pedialyte to EBF babies is an "old practice," and doesn't need to be done.
May seem like common sense to some of you, but his pediatrician told us to, and we figured he knew what he was talking about. It's not the first time he's given us incorrect information, so we'll be switching, but just thought I'd spread the knowledge...if you didn't already know.

Re: EBF moms.
Thanks for the heads up!

I was wondering this too.
This is why I love my practice. The nurse practitioner is an LC. I can call her about anything and it's billed the same as any call to the office meaning it costs me nothing.
