I have 16 month old twins, and I think they are bored with lunch or at least the foods, we have been on table food for about 2 months and they have beeneating spaghetti o's, mac and cheese, abc with meatballs, I am ready to try new things. What are some of the things you guys feed your toddler.. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.
Re: Lunch Time
DD eats whatever we eat. The only exception so far has been stuff that's really spicy, which we always have her at least try, but so far she's not into stuff that's real spicy. A little seems to be good, but not too much.
For times like that, or when I just don't have any leftovers ready to give her (she eats dinner before us, so she has leftovers from our dinner the night before), my standbys are veggie burgers, frozen meatballs, grilled cheese (sometimes with turkey, avocado, hummus, whatever is in the fridge), or a sandwich with any of the above, frozen spinach raviolis, PB&J, and I always keep a bag of mixed frozen veggies in the freezer so I can always just microwave her a side of veggies to have with a sandwich or whatever she's having.
ETA: and pretty much always fruit for dessert - I've yet to find a fruit that DD doesn't like, so I just get whatever looks good at the market.
Lunchtime for us usually consists of a lot of cut up fruit an veggies.
In addition to the fruits and veggies, we usually have some soup, some cheese and crackers, a pizza roll-up (homemade), mac and cheese, a slice of oven roasted turkey, some homemade nuggets.
Lunch is usually at daycare... so we try and give him easy things that he can feed himself with (most everything but soup he does).
Breakfas and dinner he eats what we eat
Interesting! I have 16 month old twins, too!
Our girls love turkey pinwheels (tortilla, Laughing Cow cheese, turkey, roll it up tight and cut), quesadillas, penne pasta, veggie pizza (crescent rolls baked completely flat, cream cheese, chopped raw veggies), etc. We feed them the same food we eat.
My 13.5 month old eats whatever we eat for lunch. I pack lunches for all three of us during the week, and on the weekend we usually end up with leftovers.
Here are some of our lunches for the week as ideas:
S- carnitas tacos
M - peanut butter & jelly for DH and I, pumpkin butter and jelly for the babe (no peanut butter allowed in his daycare), and fried rice. DH and I got applesauce in our lunches, the little guy will have his for snack this afternoon.
T - brown rice and black beans, apple slices, mini-bagel with peanut butter(pumpkin butter) and jelly.
W - brown rice and black beans, apple slices, green beans
R - quinoa, fruit salad, cheese slices
F - fried rice, fruit salad
DS loves vegetables, and beans are his favorite. He'll eat a can of black beans in a day. He eats meat as well, but seems to like chicken best. So I'll grill a couple of chicken breasts for the week and heat up bits of it as needed along with vegetables like...
black beans, chick peas, lima beans, black eyed peas, peas and carrots, green beans, and mixed vegetables.
He'll also eat a bag of shredded cheese like nobody's business, so I'll toss some melted cheese onto the chicken when I heat it up.
That pretty much is what he eats; grilled chicken and vegetables with cheese followed by fruit, grapes being his favorite. When I have the time to actually cook something he'll eat:
grilled cheese on wheat with spinach and chicken (only way he'll eat spinach or kale)
Shepherds Pie (LOVES it)
Spaghetti and meatballs
chicken tacos
roasted sweet potato "fries" but not really
