I tried to pm you, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how.
I wanted to ask you a few more questions about seizures if you don't mind. I remembered that you said your child had complex partial seizures. DD's first EEG came back normal so I am feeling unsure about what is going on. It is difficult because many of the seizure behavior that I read about seems hard to identify in a toddler. I wanted to ask you what seizure behaviors you saw in your child and how fequently you noticed them.
DD stares off and you can't snap her out of it for 15-30 seconds, does a funny head shake(looks kind of like a tic, spastic movement), and at times will do a sort of drunk walk(lots of random zigzagging and just walk in odd patterns w/o a destination.)
I don't have much experience with children and many of the seizure behaviors that I have read about seem like they could be silly things children do. Now that her EEG came back normal, I'm not sure what to think. I just wanted to hear more about what you saw in your child since you caught it at a young age.
TIA
Re: CnAmom
So, I know you said that he has had absent and complex partial seizures. How often did he have them?
I'm just asking because DD will go several weeks sometimes w/o any of this behavior(or maybe we are just not noticing it when it happens) and in a way it adds to our doubt or uncertainty about what is going on. She seems fine and then she will one day have a staring spell and it feels scary and real. People have asked me if she is maybe ignoring me or trying to get a reaction out of me. It doesn't seem like she is ignoring me because she won't respond if I touch her either. Still, it makes me doubt myself.
She has her next nuero apt. tomorrow. I was told that if this EEG came back normal, there would most likely be additional testing. The process is just so drawn out!
We saw the NP last time and he said that they may do a 24hr EEG at the hospital if the first one came back normal. So, we will see what the dr says tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I really appreciate your insight. I don't know anyone IRL who has experience with these types of seizures so this small exchange with you really means a lot to me since you "get it."
