What should I do?

DS USED TO sleep through the night. Ever since he's been on an eating strike at daycare he thinks he can eat every 3 hours at night... and its getting exhausting. And to make matters worse the past few nights after eating he falls asleep in my arms and as soon as i put him down in his crib he FREAKS out crying non stop until I come in and get him....and even then he still seems restless. SO, being despirate DH and I have been putting him in put bed and he goes right tp sleep. Now we have created something we can't break.....what should we do?

  • I don't know. DD often ends up in our bed. She has been super restless, thrashing all around and not wanting to sleep. You've gotta do what you've gotta do to get some sleep.

  • we have been having a hard time too these past few weeks.  I am wondering if its our DD's teeth that are causing problems.  She has been waking every few hours during the night, complaining randomly through out the day and has been on an eating strike.

I am trying to remind myself that while its exhausting, these are the cuddle times that I will miss when she is 14 (thats how old my DS is).

    Is your LO teething?

I dont know that he is teething. I'd like to think thats what it is but when we took him for his 6 month check she said his gums dont even look swollen :( but hes been drooling a lot since he was like 3 months old so who knows

  • L has been real restless in the MOTN too, for about 2 weeks or so. She normally wakes up but goes back down easily without eating. But the past 2 weeks she wakes up whining and a lot harder to put back down. She's even eaten a couple times at night which we had not had in months. I have her in bed with me. It's easier to have her right there then getting up eight hundred times a night. I figured she was teething. Seems to be a few of us are going through this!

this was us for a while, DD was drooly and chewing a lot around 3 months.  When we went for our 6 month check up the doctor saw no sign of teeth but they boke through later that same day :-)

I will hope for you that it is teething, in a previous thread one bumpie indicated that the signs DD was exhibiting might be an ear infection.  She said that her LO had been doing the same thing and she took them to the doc and eventhough the baby was NOT pulling on its ears, the doctor found an ear infection.  Somthing to think about.

Or maybe all of our babies secretly got together and decided it was time to mess up our sleep. Lol.

  • Have you considered introducing a lovey? DS falls asleep in our arms and when he started rolling over, I noticed he prefers to sleep on his side. I took his favorite stuffed lamb and laid it next to his belly when I put him in his crib and it's helped a lot. It's not near his face and he can rub it, chew on it, and move it away when he needs to.

(this is of course pre-teething time. As you can see from my most recent post, all bets are off)

This helped us too!  He's been sleeping better with a lovey, and sometimes I put on the projector from the baby crack machine (a.k.a. sound machine projector) and that helps on the nights he's really restless.

  • This happened with my first.
At about this age babies start to rise into light sleep more often throughout the night. If your baby isn't great at getting back to sleep on his own, a previously "good sleeper" will need a lot more help.
If you react by feeding back to sleep multiple times a night, he will be less hungry during the day... And in turn, more hungry at night.
