Train for 2 yr old?

We bought this Xmas train at Toys R Us over the weekend & I want to return it - it's made really cheap, the songs play SO loud, sometimes it doesn't turn on for no reason - it's kind of a piece of junk.

Does anyone have any recs on a good train - that has bigger pieces - suitable for a 2 yr old? We initially wanted something to go around the tree (& the one we bought does) - but maybe that's not such a good idea since it's always falling off the track since DS is playing with it.

Any recs?

DH just bought DD1 a Geotrax train set. You can add on more tracks and stops and the child controls the train with a remote. She loves it and asks to play with it daily.

We have the Melissa & Doug figure 8 train. He got it last year, when he was a little over a year and a half old. He's been playing with it a ton more over the last few months so we're going to buy some wooden expansion pieces that work with all the major brands.

DD has had the Ikea sets since she was less than 18mo. She still enjoys playing with it more than a year later. Inexpensive, sturdy, and fun!

I would recommend either the wooden Thomas Figure 8 or the Melissa and Doug Figure 8. You could possibly arrange it to go around the tree and additional track pieces can be bought. This is a really timeless toy and money well spent. DS1 got his figure 8 set at 18 months and still plays with it daily, he is now 4 (obviously we have added a lot more track, etc).
