With my first pregnancy, I was seen at 6 weeks. We've since moved and now this doctor's office says they can't see me until 9 weeks because "they really can't do anything anyway until then". I don't get it since she said I wouldn't get an ultrasound and would just be giving health history, confirming pregnancy with a preg test, and doing paperwork....
Re: Anyone else told they can't be seen until 9 wks?
Why does this bother you?
LFAF Summer 2016 Awards:
All of this. I know it sucks but try to look at the brightside that you are healthy and don't have a history that would require early ultrasounds.
Well they do have a point that not much can be done until 9 weeks EXCEPT getting your pregnancy anxiety at ease... I went in for my first u/s last wednesday at 6w5d and we saw the baby and heard the heartbeat (not to rub it in I'm just saying it was reassuring).
Sorry you have to wait a few more weeks. But it'll be worth it!
I wouldn't say it bothers me but it is reassuring to see the baby. My last pregnancy was very nontraditional in terms of my first visit and now that my husband will be deploying in a few weeks, I was hoping he could hear the heartbeat before leaving. I saw the heartbeat for DD at 6w1d but was unable to hear it. I guess I just assumed they might be doing an ultrasound and knew I'd had one at 6 weeks before...
Because of how Christmas and New Year's falls, I won't even meet my new OB until my 11th week... and all they know about me is that I'm 32 and pregnant. Feels a little far away for me, considering they know nothing about my history.
So, scheduled an appointment with my family doctor (soonest appointment I could get with him was at 7 weeks!), and hopefully he'll do some of the blood tests and stuff so the OB won't have to.
Needless to say, I'm feeling a bit jealous of those who have already talked with their OB by 6 weeks, let alone had an ultrasound!
But mine is doing what yours is, apt at 8 weeks, and she didn't explain what they will do, but says I'll have an exam. I know this is what usually happens and they are doing their job....but it's still annoying since its not what I'm used too. Plus this doctor doesn't know my history when preg with DD, just feel things would be different if they did.
My old doctor saw me at 6 weeks for the paperwork and 8 weeks for an ultrasound.
