what will your baby sleep when he/she first comes home?

I was given a hand-me-down eddie bauer bassinet to use until I transition the baby to her crib... however, I just found out that the model was recalled due to several cases of infant suffocation. The company sent me a 'repair kit' which is just a little spring in order to make the locking mechanism work. I'm a bit nervous though and would just prefer to get something else.

What are you using? pack-n-play bassinet top? Arm's reach co-sleeper?

 Thanks!

  • DD will sleep in the top part of the pnp until she STTN and then be moved to her crib.

  • Pack N Play Newborn Napper unless and until DH's snoring wakes him up more than he would ordinarily wake up, and then we will move him to his crib :)

  • We have the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper that we used with DS.  I really liked it, but he HATED being flat on his back and slept horribly (nothing against the co-sleeper, just how he was).  I am going to try it with this LO, but will have the Rock 'N' Play as backup from Day 1. I wish I had gotten it with him.  If nothing else, she can nap in it downstairs.

  • I'm using the arms reach co-sleeper. I set it up already (to see how the pooch would react to it), and it was way too short, I had to buy the leg extenders on Amazon for $22! I was kinda mad they didnt come in the box, so if you have a high bed, I would keep that in mind.

  • PNP napper, then probably just the top part of the PNP to transition her to a flat surface, then finally her crib

  • We will be using the top part of a PnP in our room.

  • We used the top part of the PNP for DD, but I just ordered a RNP.
  • Initially I though the crib in the nursery from day one but I might break and have LO in the top of the PNP in our room for the first 3-5 weeks.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • We're planning on using the pack n play bassinet.  With ds he either slept in his bouncer (mainly due to reflux) or we ended up getting an in bed co sleeper which was really great.

  • Snuggle nest in the bed. Bassinets make me nervous and a pnp won't really fit in my small bedroom. Then hopefully the crib in his room. I'm getting an Angel Care movement monitor for the crib, costs 70 at BRU. They also make ones that have sound, and sound and video. They detect babys breathing and an alarm goes off if they stop breathing. will help my worries of SIDS and suffocation!

  • With DS we had a smaller place, so we put the pack and play in our room at the foot of the bed.  He slept in there for the first few weeks (10 I think).  This time we have a 2 story place so the pack and play with changing station will be downstairs and we got an arm's reach mini co-sleeper to put beside our bed.  That gives me time to (hopefully) get nursing established without having to really do a lot of midnight walking from room to room.  Hoping to have LO in our room for no more than 4 weeks this time.  We found that all three of us slept better when we moved DS to his own room.  It was just a hard transition for us (as 1st time parents) to make :)

  • We were given a cradle we just bought a new mattress for - it's much bigger than it sounds though, more like the mini-cribs you see out there.  We'll keep it in our room for the first little while, definitely until I get bf'ing established.  It's actually even on wheels, so we figure if there's an odd night we want to switch rooms for one of us to sleep on the couch in the living room with the baby or something it should be pretty mobile.  We'll see how our plan works out...

  • We got the pack n play with basinett so I will have him in the top while breast feeding unless he hates it. If that happens, crib I guess. I have two cats and a dog who sleep with me so I don't think a co-sleeper will be a good idea. Kitties will cuddle him, I know it.

  • He'll sleep in the Rock N Play or in his crib (hoping for his crib right from the start).

We also have a bassinet that came w/ our stroller, that DS slept in for the first few weeks. We don't have enough room in our bedroom for the pack n play, or we'd probably use that.

  • I was planning on putting the crib in our bedroom, but DH's aunt bought us RNP so we'll use that instead!

  • PnP in our room for 6 months. We don't really have any other option though because we're moving in June and we only have a fairly small 1 BR until then.
  • RNP next to our bed. We have the PNP with newborn napper in the living room so on those nights that are bad and one of us needs to get sleep we can sleep in the living room with LO and let the other sleep in the bedroom.
  • DS#1 slept in a Bassinet for some time before we switched him to a crib.

This baby will be in a co-sleeper when we bring him home

  • Where ever she wants to sleep!  We have a bassinet, which was the plan to use with DS, but he hated it.  He didn't like sleeping flat on his back and liked to be more snuggled into something.  He ended up sleeping in a swing that laid down into a bassinet that was more cozy.

This time around I picked up a RnP (they didn't have these when DS was first born) and I think that if this baby is anything like DS she will like sleeping there, but I don't really care.  Baby will be in our room and we have a bassinet, the bassinet/swing option, a PnP, and a RnP.  Wherever baby sleeps best is fine by me.

  • We have a bassinet in our room for the first while.  I was going to use a PNP at first but the bassinet was on sale for $50 so we grabbed that and now the PNP can stay in the living room.
