Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Are you ready?

Husband and I have been talking about having are next baby. My DD is 10 1/2 months and we want are kids to be close in age but Im not sure if Im 100% ready only because I think about my house right now and it doesnt get clean right now think about putting a baby into that to..so my question is how did you know when you were ready and how old was your LO when you get preg. with your next? is it as scary as it seems?

Re: Are you ready?

  • After DD1 I was ready once she started reliably STTN around 10mths. But we didn't TTC until she was around 14mths for financial reasons.

Since DD2 I've gone through different phases of feeling ready for a 3rd, but againg for financial reasons we'll wait until she's 14mths ish.

  • I got pregnant just as my first DD turned 9 months.  So my 2 girls are 18 months apart and it's wonderful.  I was ready and yes of course it's hard in the beginning but very manageable.  We would love to have another now (DD 2 is 10 months ) But for financial reasons we are going to wait a few years.
  • My first was exactly 2 when we ttc DD, and we got her on the first month trying.  I'm not really sure how we knew, it just felt right.  DS was getting a bit easier and not requiring as much constant attention so he didn't harm himself.  I would personally have a hard time with 2u2, but some do great.

  • We wanted two close in age (especially because DH and I are 40 and knew we didn't have all the time in the world), but ended up with an "oops" pregnancy when DS was just four months old... it's terrifying, because Jack is a high-maintenance baby who has decided to stop STTN, but at the same time, I'm sooo excited to have little boys so close in age (13 months apart)... I figure the first couple of years will be brutal, but then it'll get really fun!

  • We aren't ready yet. I struggle at times keeping up with one infant, working full time, and running a household. Once DD is a little more independent, we will TTC again. Probably when she is around 2 or 3. Plus, we enjoy spending time and attention on her and want her to get to be the baby while she can. Also, with the cost of daycare, it is a good idea for us to wait a little longer.

  • We are going to start trying when DS turns 1.  I go back to work in January and need 600 hours to qualify for another maternity leave so that influenced our decision

  • Nope, not ready. Soooo not ready. DS may be our last.

DD was 2y3m when I got pregnant with DS, so he was born about a month before she turned 3. I really like the spacing of my two. DD can play independently and is very helpful.

  • Mine are 2 years and 5 months apart :)  I am planning on one more, not sure how soon though...but sometime this next year TTC.  My house has suffered when I went from 1 to 2 children :(  But it is so worth it.

  • We have had to plan each pregnancy since we have to do IVF.  I'm 38 now so we were just eager to get on with the next stage where everyone has arrived and the family is growing up together. KWIM.  DD was 2y2m when DS arrived and DS will be 16m when this last baby arrives.
