Multiples

Gifts for twins

Our friends are having twins at the end of Dec....a boy and a girl. I was going to post this on the Nurseries and Gear board but since it is multiples, thought this board would be better!

Gifts! What are the must haves or the things you used the most with twins? Or any other gift ideas you have would be helpful!!!

TIA!

Re: Gifts for twins

  • I love my Aden + Anais swaddle blankets, and I use them everyday. I couldn't live without my baby carriers (Moby wrap, baby k'tan and Ergo). I also love everyone who bought me diapers, wipes and butt cream or gave me store gift cards (this is the one time that I think it's not the lazy way out). My girlfriend also got me a necklace with two peas in pod and a circular charm behind it with their names engraved, in case you were thinking of doing something special for the mama.

  • I know it seems impersonal, but honestly I have found BRU gift cards to be by far my favorite gift.  I would avoid clothing or things that are cute but not useful.

  • We had a diaper shower... BEST THING EVER!!! We have not had to buy diapers yet. We have 2 boxes left so almost out and they are fastly approaching 8 months old! We also just bought our first box of wipes! Also we had a complete freezer of frozen meals from my amazing friends! Also couldn't live without our swings!!

  • I just had my shower.  While we are thankful for what we received, it was a little frustrating to get things that weren't on our registry.  We didn't have any clothes on our registry, but still received quite a few clothes (we already had a ton of clothes which is why we didn't ask for them).  If your friend has a registry, then anything on their registry would be great!  Afterall, that's what they asked for!  If they don't have a registry, a gift card is priceless!

  • I loved SwaddleMes and I agree with PPs - diapers (attach gift receipts in case they need to exchange them for size), gift cards, or anything off of their registry. If you go off of the registry take one for the team and get the "boring" stuff that isn't cute or fun, but is probably more practical and will get used. We didn't get things like bottles and pacifiers, but got a ton of clothes and toys (all not on the registry). Everything was appreciated, but when you're buying for two things can get expensive quickly.

  • You can't go wrong with a gift card. I used them for when we needed preemie diapers when we had a sea of size 1's, for when I found an absolute favorite bottle and wanted a gazillion of them, and when SwaddleMes got our girls to sleep through the night, so I wanted to buy several more. They are NOT impersonal, I promise.
  • I loved getting gift cards still have many to use. I went crazy so to say with my registry and put things on that I would not need right away like sippy cups, bowls, spoons, pacifiers in all stages.

I have to agree that we ended up with tons of cloths we did not ask for some of which we did not use.

  • Diapers and wipes. As cute as clothes can be, they grow out so quick; however, if you do buy clothes, get larger sizes. I find most people buy size 6 months or less, so anything above that is great.
