Scary! (Update)

So since it wasn't raining, I took Gator outside for her 12mo pictures which I had forgotten to do. I was about 10ft from our fence, and saw a guy right outside the fence digging through the bushes. He was right next to the church next door, so I thought maybe the church was having some landscaping done. After taking her pictures, I looked up and saw the guy was kind of creepy. I grabbed Gator and by the time I got to our back porch, I notice he was now reaching over our fence, grabbing branches off the ground close to where I had been. I told SO and mentioned maybe he was poor and looking for stuff to heat his house this winter. He called his dad, and they walked over to tell the guy he could come in the fence to get sticks if he needed them, they just didn't want the fence ruined and that he needed to just ask permission before taking without asking. We didnt need them anyway. Well they get towards the guy, the guy starts yelling that the sticks are his chain saw parts, that my SO and FIL were the ones that stole them and are "now running interference".....and started swinging a pick axe at them. SO ran into the house telling me and Gator to stay away from the windows so the guy doesn't know we are in there. I told him the guy already knows, he was 10 ft from me and looked at us. Four cop cars swarmed in. They are talking to him and have their hands on their guns. Since I have been informed to not go by the windows, I can only get bad angle views on what is going on!

  • Update: I kept trying to peek and watched as the man slowly walked along our fence with the cops, still digging through the brush. They walked him home. Low and behold, he lives two houses down from us. The cops finally were coming back to their cars so SO and FIL went out there to talk to one of them. The cop said the guy just got out of jail two days ago for other problems and is a paranoid schizophrenic, but because he is dressed appropriately for the weather, knows who he is, the date and time, and answered a few other questions correctly....they cannot do anything about it. He said if we see him, to just keep our distance and if he is acting weird, to call the cops again. If they get two more calls, they can bring him in to be evaluated.

I always knew the guy that lived there was a little off, but I had never seen his face so I didn't know what he looked like. He used to have a girlfriend that lived there and the cops would always show up because someone in his house would call that he was beating her. Who knows if that is true. They have since broke up because we haven't seen the cops there in a long time. The guy is like in his 60's, and his mom recently moved in with him. But the cops said that the mom is in denial that there is anything wrong with her son. He has always kept to himself and you would rarely ever see him. Their house was always quiet except when the girlfriend lived there, and then you would see the cops but you wouldn't have even known anything was going on had the cops not shown up.

Creepy....but sad too. I guess I will just have to make sure that I don't go outside at night by myself or at least be on alert.

He is a paranoid schizophrenic? And he lives 2 houses away, and may or may not be taking his meds? Uh, you need to carry bear mace and possibly a stun gun on you when you leave the house alone. Unmediated schizophrenics are very dangerous.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

Even if they can't take him in to be evaluated for thinking the sticks were chain saw parts, can't they take him in because of swinging something that could be used as a weapon at your SO and FIL? Wouldn't that be attempted assault or posing a danger to the community or something?

They took the pick axe and when they walked him home, he didn't have it. Yeah you would think they would, but I guess not. I may have missed something, those are the only parts I saw and heard.

Yeah a stun gun is a must now I guess. I have been living here 7 years, and have only seen him maybe five times. My SO has been living here for 32 years and said he has seen him maybe 10 times. This guy is usually a hermit. So weird.
