Partners at appointments?

Will your partner be attending all, some, none, of your prenatal appointments?

DH came with me to a lot of my appointments with DD, but his schedule is more difficult to work around this time. If we schedule our 1st appointment when he can make it, I will have to wait more than a week from when my doctor said he'd first do my appointment with u/s. It seems like a looong time to wait, but at the same time it would be great to share the first view of LO #2 together and have him there for support if--God forbid--things didn't look good.

Why is this a BTDT question/post? Wouldn't this apply to first time moms too?

It does apply to everyone. When I was thinking of the title I was thinking I'd write it a little differently. I'll change the title.

He came to almost all of my appts with #1. With #2 he didn't come to any, and he won't with this one. It isn't necessary and if I am able to make my appts for first thing in the am and he can go into work late, I would rather him stay with the kids so I don't have to get a babysitter

DH is going to all of them. With my first pregnancy, he was going to have to miss my 12 week appt. At the last minute, the OB's office ended up calling and rescheduling me. I started bleeding over that weekend and had I went to that appt alone, I would have found out that LO no longer had a heartbeat and DH wouldn't have been there. I can't even stand to think about that...

Last time around, mh couldn't make it to any appts. This time, he def can't make it to the U/S, and he may or may not be able to come to my appt on Wed.

I thought the same thing.

As someone who has BTDT 3 (now 4) times i can say my DH will absolutely be at every single appointment. We have learned all too well to cherish the good moments when we are lucky enough to have them. Ultrasounds aren't exactly fun for me. The bad has greatly outweighed the good. DH would never let me go alone.

MH has been to every appt thus far (2 u/s) and even asked me to reschedule my 1st one with my OB since he would have been OOT for when it was first set up. Good thing I love him--the new appt is a week later! Stick out tongue

We're very thankful he has such a great Sgt. who will work the schedule around so he can leave early/come in late/switch shifts with guys. I keep a copy of his shift schedule with me and will pull that out when I'm making appts too.

My husband came to almost all of my appointments with my last pregnancy. He is a part of this too! If his work schedule absolutely forbid it, I would understand but I think he should be there. I don't care if it's a 5 minute appointment. I want him to be a part of the experience and he wants to be.

If he is in town then yes he will come to them.

My husband is coming to pretty much all my appointments unless it's just bloodwork or something simple like that. I want him to hear the heart beat or see the ultrasounds with me. DH wants to go so it works out.

What does BTDT stand for? I see it all the time here but its not in the bump boards glossary.

I am hoping DH will be able to make at least a few appointments. It's hard right now because he is a teacher. Towards the end he will be able to though I hope.

J is definitely coming to the first couple of appts with me, after that it will depend on his work schedule. Most of my appointments will be on Mondays, which is my day off every week and his day off most weeks so if he's off he's planning on coming to as many as possible unless we agree he doesn't need to.

I wish DH could be at all of them, but it's just not possible with his work schedule. We are going to at least make sure he is there for any ultrasounds (I do mine at the hospital as opposed to the doctor's office) and the first time we listen for the heartbeat in the office.

My DH will come to as many as possible, but probably (hopefully) all of the ultrasounds at least. I want him there and he wants to be there!

I/we will be doing all of our prenatal care at home, so I will make sure to regularly include daddy and my two toddlers. Though, there will be minimal activity until at least 12 weeks as that is the earliest we will try to get fetal heart tones with the fetoscope. At around 20 weeks we may go together for an anatomy scan, but only time will tell.

MH will be attending all of the important appts, but he will probably skip the weight/BP check type appts.

With my daughter, DH started coming to every appointment. Then it was routine, weight, pee in cup, hear heartbeat and measurements. So he didn't come to any unless we were having an u/s or something different was happening. His schedule is crazy, and very hard to schedule appointments around. But I also had a doppler and he could hear the heartbeat whenever he was home with me really.

This time, he's gone to every appointment. My first "real" appointment is on the 13th so he will come for that b/c we are meeting with the doctor and will most likely talk about the NT scan and scheduling that. But the monthly appointments and bimonthly appointments he most likely won't come to. Honestly, its a lot of sitting around waiting for a 10 minute appointment.

I plan on having DH at any appointment where there will be an ultrasound or hearing the baby on the doppler. I had a loss in May and I was by myself when I found out. It was the worst moment of my life and I am terrified of going through it by myself again.

Some. Last time he came to all but he is going to be at training for two months starting in January so he'll miss two appts and my a/s.

I hope to have my DH there for all major appts. I have my first U/S Wednesday, and he will be there for that. Unfortunately, he works out of town so he can only come to appts. before or after work. And even then, it means going in late or leaving early. So he probably won't come to my routine appts.
