I'm just curious if those who have 2 (or more) LOs found that the second, third etc. babies learned to sleep through noise really well because of their siblings.
DS (our 1st LO) napped in a PNP in our living room for his first 4 months. It was always my intention to get him used to sleeping through noise...but he ended up being such a touchy sleeper that we would make sure to make NO noise while he slept. Obviously he isn't going to be quiet when his sister is here!
Did you find that your newborn adjusted to sleeping through all the toddler noise, or did you have to put them to sleep on a different floor or other side of the house?
Re: Moms of 2+, did you 2nd LO learn to sleep through noise well?
No, in fact DD (my first) sleeps through noise much better than DS. DS is a very light sleeper and I don't know why because I always made sure not to have the house completely quiet during nap and bedtime with both of them.
I have to constantly tell DD to be quieter. It doesn't work; the only time he really sleeps well is when DD is sleeping also. Unfortunately, DD is starting to give up naps so it has been difficult.
my read shelf:
No. My twins learned to sleep through each other. They share a room and still don't wake each other up.
The baby is a much lighter sleeper. He wakes up if he hears them, us, the dog, etc. I keep a fan on in his room and a sound machine and the door closed. Without all of those, he'd be awake. I can't even open his door to check on him without waking him.
Found out when the neighbor girl rang the doorbell twice today that it didn't wake her, thankfully.
LO#3 was in the PNP in the living room tonight and napped through my husband vacuuming and my older two screaming over the vacuum to talk to each other tonight. It is amazing how much noise this kid can snooze through!
My second child sleeps like a champ, and has pretty much from day one. My oldest had some sleep issues when she was 1 1/2 - 2 years, but they were not related to noise from the baby.
My third baby, on the other hand, naps just fine even with her noisy sisters playing nearby, but her night-time sleeping still sucks.
Yes and no.
He could fall asleep with any noise but 45 min into the nap if anyone even flushes the toilet he was wide awake and cranky.
DD (#2) did adjust to the noise. We were not quiet and went about our daily routine. Whenever she napped, we put her in her crib with a fan on. She is a WONDERFUL sleeper and goes down with no problems.
With DS (#1) we kept the house so quiet all the time. I wish now we would have made more noise when he was younger. He was and still is a crappy sleeper. If we have more, we will definitely do the same things we did with DD, hoping we get the same results.
