Newbie, started stimming tonight!

Long time lurker, FINALLY decided to register and post.  A quick history is that we started TTC in February 2011, visited an RE in January 2012.  Had a laparoscopy to fix a uterine septum, and then 3 Clomid IUIs in June, August, and September.  After they all failed we've decided to move on to IVF, and stimming started tonight.

 

I'm currently vacillating between super excited, trying to be positive, kind of freaking out, and convinced it's going to fail.  I'm really nervous about the effects that the meds are going to have on me because Clomid and I didn't get along well at ALL.  But right now I'm going to keep my fingers crossed, figure 1/10 days stimming down, and forge ahead.  And try not to think about how long that needle for the progesterone in oil was...

    Welcome! Sorry you have to be here, but everyone is very supportive. IVF is much more mentally taxing than physical. Those shots and needles get much easier, even the PIO one gets to be no big deal. I know a lot of people on here had trouble with side effects of clomid and a lot less trouble with the injects, so I hope that's you!
    Me: 37, DH: 38: ttc 7 years, dx: unknown
    10/11: after 2 years, saw a RE, FSH 5.4
    11/11: BFP! (surprise after thyroid & normal hsg),
    12/11: missed m/c after 7 week u/s, 1/12: D&C
    6/12 IUI#1-IUI #3: clomid = BFP!, C/P
    IVF #1(10/12) FSH 5.4, AFC: 16 long Lupron, 5R/5M/4F, all 4 made it to 5dt, 1 blast/1-8 cell transferred=BFN
    IVF #2(12/12)AFC 21, MD lupron, 4R/4M/3F, 5dt of 1 blast and 2-8cell. BFN.
    IVF#3(4/13) Natural start antagon protocol, 12R,11F. one PGS normal at day 6 transfer. BFN.
    IVF#4 (11/13) C.CRM (ODW.U normal 8/13 Still no Diagnosis) EPP/antagonist. ER 13R/7M/6F. Only 1 made it to freeze. Abnormal. Looking into options of DE, Fresh vs frozen.
    10/14 new local RE to look into what's next. CD3 FSH 4.7, AMH 0.9. Met with DE agencies and exploring options for feb/march 2015.
    Surprise natural bfp (4 days before donor is signed). Beta #1 at 9dpo: 51.8, 2nd beta: 195 (25 hours doubling) @11dpo. 3rd beta (12/15): 516 (35 hrs doubling) 4th beta(12/17): 895 (58 hours doubling) 5th beta(12/19): 2120. U/S at 5w0d(12/22): one gestational sac with yolk sac. U/S #2 (6w0d)12/29. One little bean measuring 6w0d with HR 124. 3rd u/s(1/4)7w0d: baby measuring 7w2d. HR 134. 3/30: A/S at MFM went great except for low lying placenta. Verifi results are normal! Team Blue! Please send any positive thoughts our way! EDD:8/24/2015
    Baby Will born 8/18. He's perfect.

    trying for #1 since May 2012... we're adopting! bringing home baby boy in january 2015!

    One day at a time :-)

    And that long needle is just to draw the PIO out of the bottle - you should have shorter/smaller ones to inject it.  I have 25 gauge 1.5" needles for the actual injection.  But don't even stress about that yet - you've got some time and need to focus on today.

    BFP 12/02/12, u/s @ 6w,5d showed 2 HBs! Identical twins!!
    Bed rest from 21w-35w due to short cervix, hospital bed rest from 23w-32w due to PTL
    Our rainbows were born 07/19/13 (36w, 5d)

    Just wanted to wish you good luck and add as someone who had severe anxiety about the PIO needle...it's nothing! It's just like your stims injects whereas you barely feel it break the skin. I laughed at myself after getting my 1st shot for being so dramatic.

    Me- 32, DH- 32- TTC for 4 Years
    IUIs 1-6 BFN
    IVF #1= BFP- M/C
    FET- Beta#1: 69, #2: 482, #3: 1088, #4: 28,318, Ultrasound- 1 beautiful heartbeat
    It's a boy!

    I started stims last night (11/24) too!!  You should check-in with the Snow Bunnies if you haven't already!

    Me: 28; DH: 35 
    1/2008 -- Started TTC
    3/2009 - FD discovered at 17 weeks1/2011 - Lap and HSG reveal Stage IV Endo and both tubes blocked. 
    4/2012 - Consult with RE for IVF#1 - Labs and SA are normal - Repeat HSG - SURPRISE! Both tubes are open.
    May, June, August 2012 - IUI#1-3 - Letrozole + Bravelle + Ovidrel trigger = BFN
    9/2012 - Lap#2 to remove endo and Hysteroscopy 
    IVF#1 (Long Lupron) - 12/6 ER - 20R 11F * 12/11 ET - Transferred 2 excellent blasts * 3 Frosties * 
    Beta #1 79.7 * Beta #2 240 * EDD - 8.29.13 * It's a GIRL!

    Thank you guys for the welcomes! The shots Follistim and Menopur freaked me out more than I was expecting last night I figured since I'd already triggered 3 times I'd be used to giving myself them, but I expect it'll become easier as time goes on and it was just first time stress. And when the time comes my husband is doing the butt shots I think he's kind of excited about them, actually so that will hopefully make those easier, too!

    It will get easier! Honestly, I'm a nurse and I have a hard time giving myself shots even though I give them everyday to others!. You will be amazing through this, good luck to you!
