Hello Seattle Moms,

I am new here, and fairly new to the Seattle area as we moved here in January of this year.  This is our first baby so we are super excited about everything.  We are just shy of 14 weeks along.  We currently live in a tiny apartment in Bellevue, but we have decided to buy a house to have space for the little one.  We are looking in the Renton-Cascade/Fairwood area.  Does anyone know anything about that area?

    My brother lives in the Fairwood area.  They like it for the most part, but my SIL doesn't think the school district is that good.  She is pretty involved with the PTA and said that test scores are not that high.  Hope that helps.

    We lived in Fairwood while waiting for our house to close.  Now in north Seattle.  Have to say that while the area and amenites were nice, I hated the commute to get anywhere north.  It was very isolating, which is not so good for newbies in the area (been there too).  Have you looked at Newcastle or Eastgate?
