movement on both sides

I don't think I felt this with DS, but I can often feel movement on both sides of my belly at the same time with this one. The movements are on the extreme sides, almost above my hip bones. This usually happens when I lay on my side, but it happens other times too. Maybe I feel this because I haven't gained as much weight as I did with DS? Anyone else feel movement like this?

Re: movement on both sides

  • I have noticed this too.  I haven't gained nearly as much weight as last time either.  I gained about 30 lbs with DD, and I have only gained about 10 lbs this time.

I also noticed that I can see the baby moving a lot more this time.

  • well i dont have another pregnancy to relate it to, but i do feel baby on both sides or like bottom and top like he's stretching out and i get his hand on one side and his foot on the other (at least that's what I imagine it is)

  • Yep, now that he's bigger I can feel him in multiple places at once. I have gained a lot of weight and have an AP, so it's nice to be able to feel him so much!

  • Yes, definitely. I've felt it moving on both sides at the same time for at least a few weeks. It does seem to happen a lot more when I'm laying on my left side.

  • All the time. Baby is big enough now to stretch from one end of your ute to the other & for his/her arms to stretch from hip to hip. It's a crazy feeling but it's so cool too.

  • Same here! It makes it hard for me to figure out where she is or how she is laying. Makes me wonder if she is transverse...

Yes all the time! It makes me wonder if he is breech?

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that my LO is head-down bc I consistently feel hiccups way down in my cervix.  So hopefully not!

My OB confirmed at my 29 week appointment that my baby is head down (or at least she was that day) and I feel her all over the place, too.   and I also feel the hiccups super low.  So I wouldn't worry about the movements being a sign that the baby isn't in the right position.  Not that there is a wrong position this early.  The movements in every corner of the uterus are confusing tho!

I too am pretty sure LO is heads down too, not just the hiccups,  but because he changed position about 2 weeks ago, my stomach shifted and I became 100x more comfortable.

  • Yep it's like LO is extending arms and legs very suddenly at the same time. Or maybe throwing both arms out to the sides. It's weird, and makes it hard to rest when you want to sleep, but kinda bafflingly cute.

I haven't gained a whole lot in my pregnancy, so I have no idea if that has anything to do with it.

  • Yep, I've felt this too.

Actually felt her kick me in the back last night. It was weird.

  • Yep I feel the same thing only when I lay down.  Had a sono a week ago and she was laying straight across my belly.  Haven't gained a ton either only 16 pounds.
  • I've felt this for some time now. I keep trying to figure out how he's laying and then I give up and accept that I must be growing an octopus.

    LOL Yes

I happen to feel the same opposite-end movements. When I lay on my left side and switch to my right, baby moves a TON on each side and it actually tickles me.

  • I feel this OFTEN. I'm a FTM and trust me, I've gained a LOT of weight. I wasn't aware it was weird. I just figure baby is stretching out with all his limbs.

This is the same for me.  I assume I'm feeling hands and feet at the same time.  Sometimes it's up and down, sometimes it's left and right.
