We're back safe and sound. It was really quite uneventful. I called afew days prior to leaving and had delta mark us as peanut allergy. I got the letter from our dr but no one asked to see it. Breezed through both airports with 5 epi pens no questioned asked. Even though I got an up close and personal pat Down because of my underwire.
We got there early to make sure the gate knew about the peanut allergy. They had to do some seat switches. We pre boarded which was great. I wiped down everything with chlorox wipes. I think delta owes me some cash back for cleaning their airplane. We ate our own snacks.
On the return trip the flight attendant even announced that there was a severe peanut allergy and asked if the people on the flight would refrain from eating nuts. It was nice but I got to witness an eye roll from another attendant in response which I think was really rude.
Re: Flying with peanut allergy, our experience
I always wondered how that went for families with allergies. I thought when I was a kid peanuts were banned [my childhood outrage over having to give up my honey roasted peanuts for pretzels] but I've definitely been offered them on every flight in the past few years. As a pregnant adult I have a hard time not thinking it would just be easier to only offer other snacks. The Cheez-Nips are always in high demand on Southwest so why bother risking it with peanuts.
Extremely rude! Glad it was so uneventful. Gives me hope - LOL
