I posted previously about possible being induced due to pre eclampsia. My appointment is Tuesday and they will know the results from my 24 hour urine collection. But I'm wondering, if I just so happen to show protein in my urine AND my bp is still a bit high, will they just send me on over to ld?? Or do you schedule an induction? Do they let you go home and wait a few days? I assume it depends on the severity of your condition. They told me I am favorable and to expect labor anytime now, but I'm curious if I need to be ready to get induced Tuesday if they don't like the results. How does that normally happen?

Re: How do they go about deciding to induce?
None of us can tell you what your OB will decide to do.
It's a case by case type of thing.

It depends on the doctor. With my first, I had slightly elevated bp on my due date (135/85) and she sent me straight to the hospital for a possible induction because there was also protein in my urine. Though, my blood work came back normal, she still induced me any way.
My doctor this time is concerned about my bp creeping up, however, he said he won't force an induction. The MW I usually see seems to think differently. I've had no protein in my urine, nor in the 24 hr, and my labs have been normal both last week and this week. However, we are still discussing an induction at 39 weeks. The doctor said that since there is still a slight abnormality with the bp, he would feel better inducing at 39 weeks, because there are risks of it turning into pre-eclampsia.
He was willing to let me wait until the Monday proceeding 39 weeks, so 12/3. My EDD is 12/7. The MW said if I was 39 weeks this past Monday, she would have induced because her "heart just can't take the worry." It's dependent on your doctor.
My doctor's magic number is 160/100. If either of those are reached, i.e. if my bp was 161/80, I'll be induced pretty readily. Some doctors may try meds to lower BP. It does seem standard to induce at 39 weeks, though, for the most part. If you have protein in your urine, they may make you go to the hospital immediately for the lab work. I would take a hospital bag just in case to your appointment. Be ready for anything.

My last pregnancy I had to be induced. I had an NST that wasn't as good, so they sent me right to the hospital for another one. Thankfully that NST went better, and my blood pressure went down so they sent me home, but if my levels were still high I was prepared to stay and be induced that night. I didn't have pre-clampsia, or i'm sure they would have done things differently. I went back two days later to be induced.
it's really case by case and all doctors are different. i'd say best bet is to bring a bag with you on Tuesday in the event they want you to stay, you're prepared. GL
