Last year, he liked to look at the tree, but didn't seem to really care all that much. This year? I am going to have my hands full.
I started decorating today and wrapped lights around the railing that looks down into our foyer (split-level house). The lights change from white to colored and back and DS LOVES them. He watched me put them up, but when DH put him on the floor, he couldn't see them and got distracted. When he finally saw them again, he booked it across the floor. He laughed and talked to them, and even reached out to touch them, but didn't try to pull them down.
We're putting the tree up tonight...I wonder if it will fit in the Pack 'n Play....
Re: My kid went NUTS over the Christmas lights
I'm so dreading putting up the tree and the insanity that will ensue. Between a 13 month old, 2 cats and 2 dogs, I'm sure it's going to be a disaster... any BTDT moms with advice on how to keep a toddler away from the tree?
Keeping a kid away from the tree is fighting a losing battle. So don't fight the battle. Kid proof the tree as much as possible and let them enjoy it.
Kid tree proofing tips.
1. Large tree stand. We have a stand that is huge hard to tip over.
2. Put the tree in a corner and anchor it to each wall with some fishing line and some eye hooks.
3. Glass ornaments at the top of the tree plastic and fabric ones at the bottom. Any heirlooms put in storage until they are about 4.
4. Big heavy presents at the base of the tree.
We have one I bought from my BFF, It's currently blocking our "disaster corner" and by that I mean MH's desk & our pellet stove, to keep her out of that trouble. I can't really afford to buy another one right now to use just for the tree. I don't plan to use the glass bulbs this year, so that will avoid that trouble, I'll have to check otu what other hazards lie with the rest of the decor. I didn't even decorate last year so I can't remember what we have.
