When do you give your baby water?

If you give your baby water....why and when and how much?

Do you do it to hold them off from their bottle a little longer when maybe they're not hungry quite yet?

Or are you doing it to practice with sippy-cups?

    I give her water in a sippy cup or a straw cup whenever I feed her solids. For us, it's just to practice right now.

    S gets water in a non valve sippy cup every time he has solids. Sometimes he drinks quite a bit sometime very little.

    I didn't know people were doing this... DD tries to drink from our cups. I guess I'll try our her sippy cup!

    Again with the others. i give it to him in a sippy cup. usually after his solid feedings to help wash it all down.

    and for the Why... Our pedi said to start getting him ready for sippy cups so he can better transition to them at one year

    Same as PP. We just do it for practice but sometimes he drinks quite a bit. He gets so excited when he sees his sippy!

    I give her water in a sippy cup with solids. She loves it. She doesn't drink more than 3 to four oz a day. It doesn't keep her from nursing, so she can have as much as she wants.

    Also in a sippy cup with solids. She loves it. I will also give her some from my water bottle, cup, whatever just to practice.

    I give it to her in the afternoons sometimes when I'm working. It keeps her busy :-) Also we like to give it to her with her solids, at dinner, and when we go out to eat.  She loves it too! She goes crazy!

    I tried to give it to her in a sippy cup when I gave her solids but she hates her sippy cup.  Sooooo, whenever I drink water and she wants a drink I give her a sip from my glass and she LOVES it!!!

    I think I started early on with DD1, but haven't even given it thought to start with DD2. I should really start, so she gets some practice.

    I give him a sippy cup at supper with half and half of juice and water. But he's happy with just water too.

    My pedi said she wanted him to start drinking 3 oz of water with fluoride added, like nursery water, a day when he gets his first tooth.

    we just started to give him the sippy cups with solids. he loves it but i always put 3 oz in it and he barely gets any out

    LO has been getting water since he was a month old...  Now I keep water in a sippy cup and give it to him through out the day...  He usually drinks it when he's thristy... I also give him watered down white grape juice...
