I was out of town all last week for work so I haven't had a chance to really get back in the swing of things on TB. But a lot has happened! A couple of weeks ago I had a woman contact me regarding five embryos that she was considering donating to a married couple. She found me because I had posted a depressing post on BabyCenter?s embryo adoption board expressing my feeling of being at a dead end with finding embryos and us ever becoming parents. She said she had been through something similar and saw herself in my post and she wanted to get to know us better. I had no idea it would lead to embryos.
We emailed back and forth all week, and on Friday we talked on the phone. We totally clicked! A little about the embryo situation: She (I'll call her V) has DOR and MFI (us too.) V and her husband were prepared to pursue traditional adoption after a failed IVF and IUI (us too) about six years ago when someone at their clinic in VA suggested embryo donation for them. At the time, there was another couple who had used donor eggs and their husband's sperm to create a large batch and were successful with twin boys and wanted to donate them anonymously to V and her husband. V then had success with a beautiful son 4 and a half years ago. Then V and her husband had a surprise pregnancy two years later and now V wants to donate these five embryos to another couple. So it's kind of complicated as far these embryos having been through two families already and neither of us would know the actual genetic parents. But both V and I are excited about the idea that our children will at least be genetically related. It feels right.
V also mentioned that she was prepared to be a gestational carrier for another couple about a year ago. They were already in-cycle and ready to go when the recipient couple got pregnant on their own. The reason I mention this is that it shows me that V is dedicated to helping another family be built which helps me feel more confident she won't back out. She's actually been in my position and I hope she knows how much it would hurt.
But she actually said the words to me on Friday: "We want you to have our embryos." We've wanted to hear that so bad! And to make things even more tender, her four year old son created from this embryo batch called to V in the background "Mommy, when are you going to tuck me in?" His little voice made both my husband and I tear up. I hung up the phone and we just cried saying "thank you thank you thank you!" What a feeling!
So I'm rambling, I know. But I am excited because this is the farthest we've gone on this EA journey and I feel good about it. I will be crushed if it falls through, but it seem like we are a go!
Now I'm off to find an attorney
to draw up a contract, then we can get my clinic started on setting up
shipping. I can't wait until they are here! Thanks for reading.

Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14
After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14
