Cleveland Babies

Cleveland Clinic vs. UH

Had a horrible customer experience just scheduling my first appt today. Rude..well everyone! And they totally scheduled my appt on a day my midwife wasn't in the office. Have seen this midwife before for gyn, really like her, but wonder if people have had better experiences at University Hospitals?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Cleveland Clinic vs. UH

  • I can't think of too many rude people I have talked to over the phone at the Clinic but, I don't like some of their practices - like at the new Avon location the ladies at the desk are so far away from you behind this silly frosted glass that you have to shout back and forth and I hate that they either say your address and phone number or want you to tell it to them with all these other people within hearing range - it's a public place how do you know who is sitting there listening?? I kinda made a little bit of a fuss last time with the lady b/c she was being super loud and she gave me this annoyed look. I guess it's great that we have both UH and Clev Clinic but, on the other hand I think Dr's are pushed to see so many people that sometimes you don't get the one on one of smaller practices. I went to the fertility center at UH and really liked Dr. Hurd but...our insurance does not cover UH as well as it does Clev Clinic so, I didn't have a choice but to use the Clinic to save $$.

  • I work at UH Main Campus and delivered my daughter there in June. I have had an awesome time being an employee there, and had a wonderful experience there being a patient in June! UH all the way!

  • I think you're going to get people on bad days and get rudeness now and then - as a patient it's not right and I hate, but it happens.  Given how the clinic practices are set up, there's no relationship between the doctors you are seeing and the schedulers, who are probably at a call center.  I'd ask for a direct line at your next visit - makes things much easier. I think you're going to get better care than most areas have at either facility - and I work at the Clinic.
  • I have been going to the Cleveland Clinic and have had a great experience with the fertility doctor Dr. Attaran at the main campus and my OB Dr. Anderson in Independence.  Not only have I been treated well during my appointments but I have also received quick responses when calling the offices with questions or concerns.
