Bleeding 3 Weeks Post C-Section Qu.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks from the date of my c-section.  Probably TMI, but this morning I passed a very large blood (about 4 to 5 inches around).  I called my OB and the doctor on call said that it was okay and to call if the bleeding continues to be heavy with more large clots.  I have not passed any more large clots, but I am continuing to bleed more heavily than usual.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Should I be concerned?  I really don't want to end up in the ER on Thanksgiving.

    The instruction that I was given by the nurses when I was discharged was that nothing should get worse (pain, bleeding or the size of the clots) and that if I did to call. I would call back and ask about the bleeding b/c like you said you don't want to go to the ER on a holiday if you don't have to. I would ask how long to wait even before you go in (for example if it doesn't get better by morning or should you even wait that long). Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving :)

    There is an amt. that you have to bleed to be worried such as one pad an hour.  I can not remember what it is, but you want to just call the oncall dr. back and see what they think.

    I passed some tissue and large blood clots here and there and my bleeding would get heavy to light and back again for up to 6 weeks pp.  So it was normal for me.  I did call my Dr. when I passed the tissue and clots and I was not bleeding enough for any worry.

    You want to make sure though so I would just call :)  Better safe than sorry.

    In the last few days have you been more active then before? I noticed that I would bleed heavier if I pushed myself too much. I'm sure with two LOs you are getting a pretty good work out. I would call the doctor just to be safe, but I'm sure everything will be fine.

    I am 2 1/2 weeks post cs. I had stopped bleeding for a day or two and then it started back up again, sometimes with clots. A nurse called about a week ago from dr office to check on me and I told her I had stopped bleeding then started again. She attributed it to pumping/breastfeeding and was not worried about it. I had heard if a clot was the size of an egg then to call office or if soaking a pad an hour.
