Hello! Me and my husband have been trying since October 2011, I went to the dr and asked her what we were doing wrong. She told me to lose 20 pounds and have his sperm tested. Well we don't have the money for that with Christmas coming up. So this month we bought the ovulation tests that come with 20 in them. I have been testing everyday and we have been having sex every other day at least. Yesteday I got a positive on the ovulation test and I noticed on Monday that my mucus was changing. So we had sex on Tuesday, Thursday, and Today. Yesterday after we had sex we both had a very good feeling about getting pregnant. I'm just wondering if it sounds like we have a chance this time? And is it possible to have a "feeling" we are pregnant before it even offically happens? Or is it just us being too excited.
So this is so long, thanks for all the answers! *Baby Dust to all*
Re: Just some advice please
If you had unprotected sex yes there is a chance.
No, "feelings" mean nothing.
Read the newbie link--and keep the baby dust.
Good luck
The OPK's only let you know that your body is gearing up for ovulation, not if you are definitely going to ovulate. It is possible to have a positive OPK but not ovulate. The only way you will know for sure is if you suffer through the 2ww and then test.
You definitely have a "chance", but anytime you have sex there is always a "chance".

This isn't making too much sense... BUT
1. A positive OPK means you are gearing up to ovulate... but doesn't mean you actually will
2. A feeling doesn't mean much. Especially since you just "ovulated"
3. Read the newbie link
4. Good luck with losing the weight. That can be tough.

This.
I don't think there is a "feeling". If there is, I have NEVER felt it. Maybe that's me not allowing myself to get THAT excited over something that may not even be happening. Nevertheless, as PP stated please read the newbie link and GL!
This. I agree with PPs about the "feelings" - I've had them before, and I've never gotten a BFP.
MH had two done and insurance denied them both (I knew they would since my insurance doesn't cover IF testing, but they put it through insurance anyway) but they were only $50 total. Some doctors may charge more, but I wouldn't think they would be more than $100.
As for a feeling, who knows. Last year I had a strong feeling I was pregnant and I was (I lost it early though), but was my feeling right or was it just coincidence? I'd say it's similar to the feeling of whether you're having a boy or girl, you've got a 50/50 shot at being right.

Exactly. Also, sorry to be blunt but I'm just really wondering, if you can't afford a sperm test, how do you expect to afford a baby? Diapers alone will cost so much more every month, not to mention clothes, furniture, accessories, etc. and emergency needs along the way, etc....and these expenses won't take a break for the Christmas season.

All ALers welcome!
You've been trying for a year w/o success and your doc recommended 2 very simple possible interventions and you are more focused on Christmas shopping. Maybe you should hold off a bit TTC and figure out your priorities.
DH and I have been trying for over a yr, just finished our 1st IVF cycle which mean missing T'giving with family and possible further heartbreak. We've also paid a lot OOP even with the blessing of having a lot covered by insurance.
