Help with Sleeping (me not babies)

I cannot get comfortable and fall asleep easily.  I'm thinking of getting a Snoogle but I'm having a hard time spending $60 for a pillow (however, if they're that good, it would be worth it).  Currently, I have a pillow between my legs, but it's not enough.  Every time I wake up to pee I lay awake for at least an hour until I fall back asleep.  I know this is just going to get worse.

Any tips that would be helpful?  I know a few girls on a different board take Unisom at night but I'm not crazy about taking medicine unless it's absolutely necessary.

  • I bought a king sized pillow for all of $7.

  • I sleep with the Boppy Maternity pillow on one side and a body pillow on the other.  I'm definitely more comfortable sleeping with one leg on top of a pillow.  My little fort also prevents me from sleeping flat on my back.  If you don't want to spend a lot, IKEA has body pillows for $12.  DH found me one at BB&B for $20, but it was too floofy for my liking.

  • I have a king sized bed so we have king sized pillows. I used one behind me and one between my legs and kind of in front of me. Maybe you could get away with a similar set up for cheaper than the snoogle?

I also slept kind of half on my side half on my front. Obviously with the belly you can't sleep on your front but what I mean is I turned my hips a bit so that I wasn't completely on my side.

The one thing I will say is do whatever it takes to make you comfortable now. At some point nothing will be able to make you comfortable except birth. So do whatever it takes until you get to that point! If a $60 pillow is what will do it then get the pillow!

  • How about sleeping slightly inclined?  I prop up like four or five pillows under my back so I am nearly sitting up.  It works for me!

  • I sleep on my side with the Preggle pillow between my legs and propped up against my back.  I also have a regular pillow that i hug in front of me and put slightly under my belly.  I also need to sleep with a Breathe Right strip on my nose because my nasal passages are always swollen. This has helped me a lot.  I used to wake up like you to go to the bathroom and then be awake for 2 hrs. And it was always around 3:30am.... weird

  • I just use regular pillows 2 or 1 or scallop them between my knees and tuck soft sweatshirts or a big towel under my belly which seems to help. I also have a lot of trouble sleeping but have found the couch with its built in back support works better than my bed 1/2 way thru the night...

  • You can use a comforter and mold it to your shape. I slept way better after I started seeing a chiro, good luck!
  • I finally broke down and bought myself a Snoogle 3 weeks ago and I love it.  You can use it in several different positions and it can give both tummy and back support.  Mostly it keeps me from tossing and turning all night and has allowed me to sleep much better (not pre-pregnancy great, but much better). BRU recently had them on sale for like $48.  My sleep has been worth every penny. Good luck!!

  • I also take Tylenol PM if I haven't slept well in a few nights.  My doc said it was ok to take every once in a while- no more than a couple times a week.  Took it late in my first pregnancy too and it helped a lot.

  • Get whatever you can to help you sleep.  I've been using pillows and I'm at the point now where they just aren't cutting it.  I haven't slept now in days and with only 7 weeks or so left I can't justify buying one.  I wish I would have earlier so I could feel I got enough use out of it.  A lot of women swear by the snoogle and seeing a chiro on my BMB.

  • I spent the $60 on the Snoogle when I was pregnant.  It was worth it, though the further along in my pregnancy I got, the additional pillows I had to add to help support my belly.  However, the added benefit is that I now use the Snoogle as a place to sit my twins.  I can position it to fit one or both, as opposed to the Boppy, which only fits one baby.
  • Thanks ladies. After another sleepless night I broke down and bought one. I may try the Tylenol pm tonight as it won't arrive until Monday I bought it on amazon.
