May 2013 Moms

I feel like I'm in an awkward stage.

I'm 14 weeks, and thankfully the morning sickness has subsided.  The only symtoms I feel are occasional headaches and fatigue.  I feel like I am in limbo right now, because it's too soon to feel fetal movement, yet I'm at the point where the first trimester symptoms are basically gone.  Not that I'm complaining, but at least when I felt nausea and heartburn, I knew everything was okay with the pregnancy.

Does this make any sense? I guess I'm anxious to feel the baby move so I can have some reassurance, KWIM? (I'm a PgAL girl, so I've been really paranoid with this pregnancy.)

  • I am totally with you, I'm at 16 weeks and all my first trimester symptoms are gone and so I keep freaking out thinking something is wrong, I feel flutters every now and then but I don't really know if it's the baby or just my stomach. I am naturally a worry wort so this plus my hormones has made me feel crazy. The only thing I am looking forward to is next week we have our 16 week visit. I hate that almost first half the pregnancy you only see the doctor once a month! But yeah I'm there with ya!

  • I am the same way... other than somewhat tender breasts, feeling like I ran a 5k after climbing our back steps, and the occasional headache, I dont really feel pregnant.  I am like you I feel flutters but not sure if those are gas related or baby.
We did have an appt. last Wed and heard the heartbeat which was reassuring but still I am a little bit of a worry wart as well and find myself wondering.

  • I think we are all there.  I'm still tired (but not sleeping well) and I'm back to peeing every half hour or so waking up 4-5 times during the night (it had stopped after about 8 weeks and it's been back since 13).  Definitely getting headaches and heartburn though.  But I can't wait until I can feel something.

The other awkward stage is that I'm just fat.  I'm chunky, have no waist line and also no bump.  However, I'm okay with that holding off until after New Year's.

I have found another way to use my doppler for reassurance. Instead of looking for the HB at night, when LO is quiet and it's easy to get a reading, we've started checking in the morning when they are active. Having the HB move away from the doppler and having to find it again is reassuring that baby is not just alive, but active. In fact, occasionally we've been able to hear the whoosh of baby kicking out and rolling away right as the HB disappears. Even this little interaction is hugely reassuring.

This! Use a doppler... it will save a PgAL girls life (and help calm those fears). And from experience, you can still feel all those symptoms and have a loss. I will tell you though the doppler really calms my fears.

  • Yep, makes sense to me.

I still have the nausea but that doesn't really make me feel pregnant because I get nausea with my migraines weekly when I'm not KU.

You'll start feeling baby soon and it is one of the best feelings in the world. :)

  • Im right there with you! I also look like I had too much pumpkin pie instead of it being a bump (this is my 2nd baby, and I also may or may not have had too much pumpkin pie lol)
