Preemies

Share Reasons to be Thankful this Thanksgiving!

We used to do a  post every so often about why we are thankful for our preemies, or our time in the NICU, etc.  I think today is a good day to share one of these posts.  It looks like we have a mix of new mamas and veterans.  I apologize for borrowing my reason from "It's a Preemie Thing", but it was too good to pass up:

I am thankful for my daughter and that she survived. It may sound insane, but if she hadn't of been a preemie, I may not appreciate every little thing she does with such enthusiasm.

I am thankful for getting to "know" so many other preemie parents so that we can share our excitement, fears, feelings and accomplishments. Unfortunately I also know to many parents who have lost their sweet babies. ?.

I am thankful for having a new perspective of children with special needs and understanding even a small portion of what many have to go through. I appreciate all the NICU Nurses, Docs, RT's, ST's, OT's, PT's and EVERYONE that has a hand in helping our small miracles grow and develop.

Happy Thanksgiving, mamas!

  • I am thankful for modern technology and the NICU staff. If my baby was born 100 years ago, chances are she and I both would not have lived.

  • I am thankful for ds2's fat cheeks and wrist rolls. I never appreciated the beauty of a chunky and healthy baby with ds1. He was always scrawny.

I'm thankful for you ladies. Such a help! And awesome camaraderie.

And I'm thankful for my awesome antes and NICU nurses. Amazing women!

  • I am thankfull for every milestone my son has and will reach. So many of them would have been taken for granted if he was full term. Being a preemie mom has really changed my perspective on life for the better. I appreciate the small things and have slowed down a bit. I'm also thankful for the outpouring of love and support I saw this year. Some of it came from places I never would have expected.

  • I'm thankful for the medications to induce because I wouldn't be here today if they had to do a csection. I'm thankful my Lo is doing so well and for every milestone. I don't think I would have the appreciation for every small thing she does if she had gone to term.

I am also thankful for all my wonderful and amazing friends and family who have given us so much support.
