I've been thinking about moving DD to her room in a few weeks and we have a video monitor. When she's in her crib now and I use the monitor, I just place the camera on the rail and it stays there. The problem becomes when she's mobile and can easily investigate the camera and pitch it as far as it will go. Plus, I don't want her to have access to the cord. How do you have your camera placed? I don't have a shelf above the crib, so that's out. I'm completely out of ideas on where to put it.
Oh, extra credit for PIP! Thanks!
Re: video monitor users
My BIL mounted it to the wall. I hate putting holes in the wall but it is really the only option that is safe.
I installed a shelf above his crib. I got it at Home Depot, and you just put in two screws on the base, and then slide the shelf over it so you don't see the screws. It's a pretty small shelf, and looks nice with other knick knacks.
Don't leave it on the crib rail, she could grab it to play with and strangle herself with the cord.
I agree! This is how ours is mounted to her crib rail.
