My DH and I enjoy Black Friday shopping, we have gone every year together. It is fun and exciting and we enjoy it together.
That being said, there really aren't that many deals that are SO great that they couldn't wait or any deals that are worth waiting for long periods of time for or getting trampled for.
Being that I am one of those crazy people who likes to shop at 3am on Black Friday, I think it is absolutely ABSURD that stores are opening on Thanksgiving. I refuse to partipate in that and I am hoping there are enough other shoppers that feel the same way, so that the stores change their policies next year.
On a side note: I work right next to a Best Buy and as I pulled into work this morning there were actaully people out there waiting in line! Really!?!? Now those people are crazy or just plain stupid.
Sooooo - Who is planning on Black Friday shopping? When are going to start? What stores do you plan to hit? What are some items you are hoping to get?
Re: Random - Another Post About Black Friday Shopping
We're starting at 10 on Thanksgiving. It's easier for us than starting crazy early in the morning.
My BIL works at Walmart and will be working on Thursday. We're going to go shopping for the kids, and bring BIL Thanksgiving leftovers for his lunch.
We're also going at midnight to do some shopping for us (MIL, SIL, me).
The Thanksgiving fight isn't mine to fight (JMO). Employees need to fight that battle for themselves. My BIL wants to work. He doesn't care about Thanksgiving and being around family. He just wants to be doing something. He has SNs, and has no concept of familial obligation around the holidays and tends to only do things that benefit him directly (ie- working to make money to buy video games, etc).
I'll be going to Toys R Us, Target, and Bed Bath and Beyond (if they have good deals - haven't seen their ad). I'm trying to avoid Walmart, but I might get brave if I'm tired and delirious enough.
I'm super bummed that JCP isn't doing their annual free snowglobe - I have one from every year for the last 10+ years. It was a tradition to go there with my aunt and get one. She went and got one for me two years ago because we don't have JCP here. And when DH and I went to Disneyland on Thanksgiving one year, I found a JCP and went out shopping to get my snowglobe. Sigh...End of an era. They were the last store to give out free stuff (that I know of).
Not sure when I'm going to start. I don't like the idea of stores being open on Thanksgiving because I think moving the start time so early has ruined the fun.
I saw that you can ask a sales associate for a holiday button that has a number on the back that you can enter online to see if you win something. Not as cool as a snowglobe..but it's something
