Christmas gift ideas for Embryo Donor family?

With Christmas approaching, and the start of our new relationship with our embryo donor family, I was thinking of getting gifts for the donors, but I don't know where to begin. I want the gift(s) to be meaningful and ideally something I can order online.

All of our contact has been through the donor woman called "V". Part of me thinks I could get her an extra special gift - maybe something to do with snowflakes to signify our linked snowbabies? Or you think it's more appropriate to give a generic family gift? Is it weird to give a gift at all? I need suggestions! :) thanks ladies

Re: Christmas gift ideas for Embryo Donor family?

  • I think it's very sweet to give a gift. Do you know her history? Is she an infertility survivor? If she's not, I'm not sure she'd correlate a snowflake with snowbabies. But maybe that's just me.

Have you ever seen those photos called alphabet photography? I'll try to find a link. ETA it's www.alphabetphotography.com
It's essentially photos taken that resemble letters and they're normally beautiful. You could choose a word and design a photo based on that. Just an idea...

I have not seen this website, but it looks interesting! Yes, V is an infertility survivor and her history is very similar to mine. Failed IVF, Failed IUI - She has DOR and her husband has MFI. They were recipients of donor embryos too which are the ones they are giving us. I figured if I did a snowflake thing, I'd include a card explaining some illiteration to the snowbabies aspect so she didn't have to scratch her head on that one lol. You're right, she may not make the connection.

Oh wow! I love that story! Well after seeing her history, I'd probably go the snowflake route too. I think it would be more meaningful.

Do you think I just get her something? Or the whole family?

  • Maybe a gift basket the whole family could enjoy and a snowflake necklace or bracelet for V?

ETA: 1800baskets.com is having a 20% Black Friday sale on some items.

  • I think giving her a gift is a lovely idea. I actually had budget set aside for our egg donor and considered a simple, classic necklace from Tiffany's. They are lifelong in their style but lots to choose from in a $250 or less range. I really want to give something meaningful too and I think you'll delight her with your genuine thoughtfulness regardless of what you get her. Not sure your budget, but an idea to toss out there! You could do something a little special for her and then a basket or something for the fam too.
